Japanese architecture

[edit]

Hi Urashimataro. I've recently done some work expanding the article on Japanese architecture and have submitted it for peer review. As you have lots of experience editing Japanese architecture articles I'd really appreciate if you could spare some time to read it through and leave some comments. Thanks. Kenchikuben (talk) 20:41, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Took a general look, found no glaring mistakes or holes and made just minor changes. It looks like you did your homework, and therefore did a good job. Just one thing: Take a look at the General Features section of the Buddhist temples in Japan article. That info applies to Japanese architecture in general, and in Nishi and Hozumi's book in fact WAS about Japanese architecture (I wrote that section, and read the book). The info the section contains is mostly already here and there in your article, but it would be good to have something like that in your article too.
I am about to take a long business trip, and I will be busy for some days, but I will do more after that. Take care.Frank (Urashima Tarō) (talk) 05:05, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your prompt response and comments. The peer review will be up for a while and other editors have also given me lots to think about! Thanks again. Kenchikuben (talk) 07:18, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tübingen

[edit]

Are you familiar with this website? -- den persönlichen Seiten von Dr. Eva-Maria Meyer, Akademische Oberrätin am Seminar für Japanologie der Universität Tübingen?

Is it possible that this escaped your notice? --Tenmei (talk) 17:01, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Tenmei. Thanks for the link, which indeed refers to a site I didn't know. Took a cursory look, will read it more carefully after work. I am not very active these days, unfortunately. -Frank (Urashima Tarō) (talk) 23:30, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is just something to store away in the back of your mind. --Tenmei (talk) 23:48, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jingū-ji for DYK

[edit]

Hello, Urashimataro. Thank you for your interesting article on Jingū-ji. I have nominated it for DYK. You can see the nomination here. Not that I agree with the reviewer, but you may want to deal with/respond to the complaint about (possible?) close paraphrasing. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 23:53, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. I had given up the DYK because I could not figure out a good hook. Rewrote the lead. - Frank (Urashima Tarō) (talk) 01:12, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In Bentendo, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Karahafu gable or bargeboard

[edit]

Hi Urashimataro! Long time no see. Somebody on de-wikipedia was wondering, about the following technicality, is karahafu (唐破風) a gable or rather a bargeboard. The karahafu article says it is a gable, but jaanus says it is a bargeboard. What do you think? bamse (talk) 09:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alas, real life concerns keep me away from Wikipedia, but I will be back. I think it is a bargeboard, not a gable, and dictionaries agree with me (I think). -Frank (Urashima Tarō) (talk) 09:34, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I am also not too active these days on wikipedia. Will transfer your reply to de-wikipedia. bamse (talk) 22:27, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Kamakura's Seven Entrances, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fuchū (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tamamushi Shrine architecture

[edit]

Hi! I understand that you don't have much time, but asking anyway... User:Maculosae tegmine lyncis and myself were wondering if you are interested to do some editing or provide otherwise input in the Tamamushi Shrine architecture section (see also this discussion). Basically we think that the text is currently very technical and therefore hard to understand. It could do with some easy to understand explanation or a drawing or something. What do you think? bamse (talk) 18:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Not today, but soon. It is an interesting subject, a shrine 23 cm tall ... -Frank (Urashima Tarō) (talk) 02:38, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, would certainly be good to have your input; and after that maybe you could add olive-zukuri to your to-do list... Really pleased to see from your photo that new leaves are springing up from the Great Gingko. And did you hear there's a renewed push to have Kamakura inscribed on the UNESCO list? Apparently the various sites will be inspected in the summer/autumn (took the liberty of expanding your article about it a little), Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk)

The article Moji (extension) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

1. no assertion of notability 2. no refs

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
