Request reason:
Hello, apparently I was blocked after editing a post I had successfully made. Since I was new to Wikipedia, I was unaware of using the sandbox to edit before submitting the changes. Now that I understand what triggered the block, I shouldn't have any problems in the future. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do. Thank you!
Decline reason:
There's no point unblocking you if your only goal here is to use the sandbox. You have to convince us that you'll make constructive edits, and you understand why your existing edits were reverted. Yamla (talk) 14:00, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Hello. Thank you for giving me details about the information you need to further review my unblock request. As I mentioned, I am now aware of what triggered the block (I was re-editing a submission I made directly to the Iggy Pop page rather than utilizing the sandbox before posting it- very sorry about this). I can assure you that I am not a vandal (if that were true I would have been vandalizing my own words). My intention was merely to re-edit what I had written, not in any way editing someone else’s words. I can assure you that I won’t repeat this mistake. My primary reason for creating a Wikipedia account was to provide information about The Untouchable, an all-girl group from Princeton, NJ (1965-1969) that Iggy Pop (James Osterberg) has repeatedly credited as a primary influence in starting his band (The Stooges). I have first hand information about this all-girl band (they performed for Iggy Pop in my basement in Princeton, NJ), and I am in the process of creating a Wikipedia page about the band. Please let me know if I can provide you with further information or evidence. Thank you very much for your time and attention to my request.Untouchablegirlband (talk) 23:50, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
Accept reason:
In view of the comment below from the blocking administrator, I can't see any reason to keep you blocked. However, your user name is a problem, because it will give the impression that your account represents a band, whether that impression is accurate or not. Before doing any more editing, please request a change of username. You can go through the process described at Wikipedia:Changing username if you like, but a quicker and easier method will be to just ask "Boing! said Zebedee" to do it. You can do that by posting a message which begins with {{Ping|Boing! said Zebedee}} and ends with ~~~~, and in between those two has a request for a rename, including a suggested new user name. To avoid wasting your time asking for a user name which is already in use, click on this link [1], type the user name you would like to use in the box labeled "Display users starting at", and click the "Show" button. If the user name is already in use it will be shown at the bottom of the page, and if not then some other user name will be listed (the next one in alphabetical order which is in use.) Please do request a change of user name. If you don't, it is likely that you will be blocked from editing again. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:09, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- Reviewing your edits, I am inclined to unblock, but I think the username might be a problem as while it appears that you are a fan, it could also imply that it is a promotional shared account for the the band that you intend to edit. In order to be unblocked, I'd suggest two things:
- You clarify whether or not you have any connection to the band, or whether you are just a fan.
- Pick a new username that doesn't imply shared promotional use. (I'm pinging an admin who helps with renamings in these cases Boing! said Zebedee so he can be watching the page if you do request a new username.)
- If you can clarify those two things for me, I'd personally be fine with unblocking. TonyBallioni (talk) 11:46, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'm watching now, and I'll do any rename that's requested. And while I'm here, yes, I'd support an unblock under those conditions. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:05, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your replies, and your willingness to unblock. As for your concern whether or not I have any promotional connection to the band: The band broke up in 1969, so technically there is no band to promote, and there is no financial or commercial viability or intent on my part. I do know personally the band members, and for over 30 years I have wanted to tell this story for them, since Iggy Pop keeps referring to their influence on him in interviews. I would be more than happy to change my user name, as I only created Untouchablegirlband inspired by my interest in providing historical details that few people know about this band that existed from 1965 to 1969. Will I be able to change my name if I am still blocked? Thank you for your help!Untouchablegirlband (talk) 23:52, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
- It is not obvious to me that the editing from this account was all vandalism, as indicated in the block log and the block notice above, nor even that any of it was vandalism. @Oshwah: can you explain why it was vandalism, to help us assess whether unblocking would be reasonable or not? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 00:44, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- JamesBWatson - There was no vandalism here. The edits seem legitimate. This wasn't a good block reason by me at the time. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:55, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
@Boing! said Zebedee: Hello, recently my unblock request was approved. I have been directed to contact you regarding creating a new user name. I would like to request DMV2017 to replace Untouchablegirlband. Please let me know if there is any other information you need from me. Thank you for your time!Untouchablegirlband (talk) 20:58, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- That's fine and the rename is done, welcome back! Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 00:42, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
AfC notification: Draft:The Untouchable (band) has a new comment
[edit]Hello Robert, thank you for your speedy response and inquiry about notability of The Untouchable. I have been motivated to write this article for many years (I was a disc jockey at a large NJ/Philadelphia radio station in the 80's), due in part to the repeated references in interviews by James Osterberg (Iggy Pop) to this all-girl band's influence on him and his band The Stooges after seeing them perform in 1967. Most recently in the Jim Jarmusch film "Gimme Danger" he again credits them with "shaming" him into taking his band seriously, as they were so much better than he was (his words). After researching this, many other details were discovered. As mentioned in the article, after being signed by Charles Koppelman of Koppelman and Rubin, the were assigned producer John Boylan to record their first single. Present at that recording session was world renowned studio designer and architect John Storyk (who designed Electric Lady studios as his first project), who also notes that his first time in a recording studio (Bell Sound, NY) was with The Untouchable at this session. So there is quite a bit of "six degrees of separation" with the band (who broke up in 1969) and many notables in the music world. The Jarmusch film also peaked the curiosity of a writer for Ugly Things magazine, which resulted in a multi-paged article in issue #45 in 2017. It is for these reasons that I believe this band needs to have a presence on Wikipedia for historical perspective and reference.DMV2017 (talk) 13:04, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
