Copyright problem on Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act
[edit]While you show a source of https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=Press-Releases&id=A514829F-4B12-4F74-B7CD-D9E8B9C25B7C (dated February 2017) for content you added to the above article, the same prose appeared at https://www.hongkongfp.com/2016/11/17/us-senators-introduce-bill-punitive-measures-suppress-freedom-hong-kong/ the previous November. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:Singaporean actress Kym Ng.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Singaporean actress Kym Ng.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:41, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Singaporean actress Kym Ng.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Singaporean actress Kym Ng.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yeenosaurus (talk) 🍁 01:09, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 15
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2019 November CUHK-Hong Kong Police Force conflict, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ricky Wong (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A compromise/Invitation to collaborate
[edit]Hey, I have seen you creating articles about 2019 Hong Kong protests, such as 2019 November Shooting Incident in Sai Wai Ho, and 2019 November CUHK-Hong Kong Police Force conflict, and I understood that you are a prominent editor from Chinese wiki. Unlike Chinese wiki, enwiki has a significantly higher requirement for WP:GNG and generally, a way higher bar for reliable sources than Chinese wiki (most of the RS we consider in enwiki is English, and we generally do not accept primary sources (aka Facebook posts, Tweets etc., especially from parties involved in the incident) per WP:PRIMARY).
While I have initiated the merge discussion to the November timeline article (I may have been too aggressive for redirecting them at first, but both articles are in, sorry if it sounds offensive, quite a rough shape when I first saw them), But after seeing what have happened throughout the week, I have a better alternative that has a broader scope: an article with full details of the entire general strike/Operation Dawn that would cover both of the subpages you have created adequately. I hope this is a compromise we can make. I really don't recommend splitting off so many pages in enwiki unless an incident contributes significantly to the development of the protest, mainly because readers don't really have lots of attention span to read over all small articles that do not fully explain cause/effect. I have incorporated as much information as possible from the pages you have created and content from the November timeline article into this draft I have made (as permitted by the rules and guidelines I have mentioned above). OceanHok (talk) 19:07, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- I need to add my voice here. UniverseHK is creating pages which clearly offend the WP:NOTNEWS principle. They are small components of a much broader event; they are articles about incidents which are just in the process of unfolding whose particular significance is impossible to judge in a historical context at such an early stage. It is entirely likely, for example, that the CUHK events will be more or less forgotten in a matter of weeks, as have been many minor (yes, that is how even the CUHK situation may look to us in months ahead) events in the early days of these protests. The work is plainly unencyclopaedic. My recommendation is that the various pages be deleted and brief synopses be added to the central 2019 protest page. sirlanz 12:28, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- I provided so many information about international concerns and you said it will be more or less forgotten in a matter of weeks. Hilarious. Universehk (talk) 19:52, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Cheng Lai-king
[edit]On 24 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cheng Lai-king, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Hong Kong politician Cheng Lai-king has represented her constituency in the Central and Western District Council since its creation in 1994? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cheng Lai-king. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Cheng Lai-king), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not do on Chris Tang. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. It's incivil to accuse others of trying "to prevent people from understanding the incident". — MarkH21talk 22:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Information and Organization
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Information and Organization requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://journals.elsevier.com/information-and-organization. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PRAXIDICAE🌈 22:46, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lisa Ch'ng
[edit]Hello Universehk,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lisa Ch'ng for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

- @Raydann, Universehk, and Galobtter: I agree with Universehk that this article is not an outright speedy deletion candidate, given its existence on other Wikipedias. (Note: I can read a little Chinese, but in no way at all enough to ascertain whether the sources currently cited in the article are suitable for a biography of a living person.) I remind both of you, and in particular Universehk, that WP:BLP is a non-negational policy that must be adhered to at all times. Given the lack of English language citations, and the contentious content assertions in the article, I would agree with Raydann that this article should be moved to Draft:Lisa Ch'ng Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 10:38, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- I have included 2 extra English language citations. From Malaysian and Singaporean media respectively.
- I do not see any contentious content assertions in the article. But if you think there are, please highlight it.
