- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Neutrality on Wikipedia
[edit]Hello.
As you might have noticed, all your edits on the 2022 United States elections article have been reverted. Your contributions seem to have been biased. Articles on Wikipedia should not take sides. Also The Daily Wire, which you had used as a reference, is considered unreliable by Wikipedia (See WP:RSPSS#The Daily Wire). This in contrast with The Washington Post (WP:RSPSS#The Washington Post), whose info you replaced.
If you think something on Wikipedia is inaccurate, you must use citations to reliable sources to back up your new text. If different reliable sources offer different views, each side must be given its due weight.
In some cases it might be better to start a discussion on the article's talk page before making a large change on a contentious issue.

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you have added Creative Commons licensed text to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Interstate Civil Defense and Disaster Compact. You are welcome to import appropriate Creative Commons licensed content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Compatibly licensed sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any Creative Commons content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 19:14, 19 February 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Brett Cooper (commentator). Thank you. Beccaynr (talk) 23:44, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
