GA hold

[edit]

When you have a moment, would you mind responding to my queries at Talk:Letters Written in Sweden, Norway and Denmark concerning your GA hold? Thanks. Awadewit | talk 06:05, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Man with the Golden Gun (novel) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:The Man with the Golden Gun (novel) for things needed to be addressed. T Rex | talk 14:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, I passed the article after your improvements. T Rex | talk 20:20, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

octopussy

[edit]

Sorry, I wanted to read the short story collection it comes from to make sure it was accurate, and I've sort of forgotten. My apologies, and I'll get to it today as it's my day off. VanTucky (talk) 17:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article review

[edit]

An article you have reviewed recently, A Series of Unfortunate Events has been nominated for Good Article review. Although the article was only given GA status a few days ago, I found some issues within the article that might keep the article from GA status. So, I have asked for a Good Article review. You are welcome to contribute to the discussion there. Drewcifer 02:55, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA pass

[edit]

Please find someone to help you understand the instructions on how to pass GAs and complete the incomplete GA template at here. It needs a date, oldid and topic. Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 12:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The GA template should look like this: {{GA|oldid=123456|topic=Arts}}. The oldid is found by going to the article page and clicking "Permanent link" on the menu bar on the left of the page. The end of the URL will display the oldid. The topic field lists which of the eleven main categories from GA the article is listed under. These eleven categories are found here. If you have any questions or need any assistance in the future, please feel free to drop a line on my talk page. LARA♥LOVE 15:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Octopussy passed we're doing good!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It might seem pedantic but I had always wanted to do the Bond films in order From Russia, Goldfinger then Thunderball etc for the collaboration!!. I'm not really up on all the novels -it is the films I'm interested in but they do need some attention of course. The number of Bond GA'S looks very impressive already on the WP:Film spotlight ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A smily face for an editor who has much improved and given consistent good work in improving bond article to GA status. Our articles now stand out in the top film articles! Viva la Bond ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aggron tcg.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aggron tcg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 16:56, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Spy Who Loved Me

[edit]

I am going to pass this article shortly after I do a final grammar check, but I have one thing that needs fixing (I'm just assuming you added it, so correct me if I'm wrong). The bit about the depression from the DVD extras needs some kind of proper citation format. I know none of the regular templates are made for that kind of source, but some kind of format other than the present one is necessary. Other than that, looks good as always! VanTucky (talk) 23:44, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I meant that passage in production that ends with "...as related in the MGM television documentary 'Harry Saltzman SHOWMAN'." That needs to be fixed, as it isn't sufficient attribution. VanTucky (talk) 16:03, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:WIAGA before reviewing articles at WP:GAC. Articles need to meet all the criteria in order to pass. Hold periods are for no more than seven days. Considering using {{GA2ndopinion|Article}} (details here) until you've gained more experience as a reviewer. This template allows you to request a second opinion. You can then read the suggestions of the second reviewer to further understand what to look for. Regards, Lara 14:26, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Academy Awards Failed GA

[edit]

To: User talk:Vikrant Phadkay

From the following Talk Page: Talk:Academy Award

This article fails because of a huge laundry list. Is there any need of a section full of records? That reads like paper encyclopedic trivia. Vikrant Phadkay 15:32, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a link to the huge laundry list of suggestions? As I contribute to this article quite a bit, I would like to see the list of suggestions and try to address some of them. Please reply at my Talk Page: User Talk: Joseph A. Spadaro. Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro 18:45, 22 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]
There is absolutely no need of a list of records. Its too paper-encyclopedic. The list of awards can be improved byu tabular format but records are also largely unsourced. Vikrant Phadkay 15:43, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. But ... I was wondering if there was an actual list that I would be able to look at (through a Wiki link)? Please let me know. Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro 16:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Moonraker-Attack-of-US-astronauts.jpg. Image rationales

[edit]

You're gonna have to learn to add more detailed rationales. When you upload new images your four point brief does not meet the wikipedia fair use policy, it is very flimsy indeed. The images you upload may be threatened by taggin in the future. Please see how to add a proper non free media rationale which meets the 10 point criteria, Thankyou ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 23:07, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I am concerned about is that you have removed images which had a detailed rationale from the Bond articles and replaced them with your own uploaded ones which haven't got a proper secure rationale. I'll give you a link so you can see a proper way of doing it. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 23:09, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK see Image:Una giornata particolare2.jpg. All you need to do is copy to contents of that page and paste it in on the Bond ones and just change the title and year as appropriate -it takes two seconds. I'll do one for you as an example ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 23:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK see Image:The-Living-Daylights-villains.jpg. All you have to do is copy this and add it to all the Bond images and just change the title where appropriate. There shouldn't be any excuse for not using this from now on. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:41, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have double standards when it comes to images don't you. If the one of Plenty o toole isn;t "valid" to illustate a paragraph which discusses the chaarcter you how can any images of the characters be of benefit to the article in the plot?? Your selection of images at times is very strange indeed. I'm not surprised the collaboration thing is ending as nobody can get into edit when you're around ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:08, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK no probs sorry I offended you last night. Keep up the good work. Yes I am not really up on the novels and unofficial films either it is the films I am into. Whatever the case nearly all of the Bond films are looking much better and thanks for all your dedicated work to them. I only found a few of your image choices questionable. The images for Living Daylights etc is very cleverly done to include most of the cast. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:45, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey also well done for finding the image of Bond and 006 at the beginning of Goldeneye although many people agree that images shouldn't be fixed but set at thumb. I am glad you are using the proper rationale also. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: World is Not Enough

[edit]

That one is in Edits, under Music video. I really must stress, however, that I haven't really read the article, so all I've come up with is what I spotted; fixing them won't necessarily fix the article (although it might).

I should say that the only reason I haven't, and am unlikely to, read it all properly isn't because of a problem with the article, but rather that sort of stuff leaves me cold. You could get the best writer in the world to do an article on my favourite piece of music, and I still wouldn't read it properly!

Rgds. Carre 15:38, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heh - took me a while to re-find that quote, so no wonder you didn't! It's in 3rd Para, Media reaction: The James Bond website posted a press release from the producers of the James Bond films, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli saying "We are thrilled to be working with such an innovative group and believe the collaboration between David Arnold, Don Black and Garbage will make this one of the most memorable Bond songs."
I take it the two Jay Boberg quotes in that para are covered by the current ref#29?
You need to scan through the whole thing for the sort of problems I've noted - I can see another space between "." and a ref in Critical reception, for example. I know MOS stuff is a pain in the backside to get completely right, but that's the criteria. I fixed a few of these a few days ago, so if you can't spot them all, give me a shout and I'll fix what I can see. Carre 16:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hulk and the GA fail.

[edit]

Hi, you left a message months back that Hulk failed it's GA review. I've worked a huge rewrite of the page, would you mind giving it a good reviewing, so that I can resubmit it for GA? Hulk (comics). thanks! ThuranX 23:22, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My talk page comment

[edit]

Hi. I'd just want to object to your comment on my talk page.

  1. That's not how FACs work. Anybody is welcome to support, object, or leave comments. One does not necessarily lead to the other.
  2. It's my judgement if my comments have been addressed or not.
  3. Perhaps you might have begun by thanking me for taking so much time to analyse the article - because it was a considerable amount of time.
  4. I recently got BAE Systems through FAC, and if you review my edit history you will find I wasn't as presumptuous or pushy with any of the commentators on that FAC as you've been.

Cheers. Mark83 (talk) 01:22, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:John-Barry-with-BAFTA.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:John-Barry-with-BAFTA.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot (talk) 17:07, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
An image that you uploaded, Image:John-Barry-with-BAFTA.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Mark83 (talk) 21:29, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I saw your comments regarding this image. "This page displays the image but does not have any restricted copyright. It can be seen on the page itself." -- How are you arriving at that conclusion? The homepage of the website says "Original content is copyright mi6.co.uk © 1998-2007." So it's either mi6.co.uk's or someone else's used with permission. Either way it's not useable on Wikipedia. Lists

[edit]

I have to admit Vikrant you are clueless about lists. I noticed you had reverted the edits of Wild West guy as if he was a vandal. You said something like images are not intended for lists. Rubbish. See List of national parks in Thailand etc etc. Please do not threaten another user who has good intentions to improve an article again just to satisfy your own ends. Anybody would think you were a seasoned admin or something. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:43, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sajjangarh and balloon.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sajjangarh and balloon.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:10, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Martin Campbell.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Martin Campbell.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of descrption pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla (talk) 16:23, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Please do not upload or use any more images until you have had a chance to read and understand WP:IUP. We may not, for example, use fair-use images solely to depict living people. Thanks. --Yamla (talk) 16:24, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you work a bit on Thunderball. This needs lot of work. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:29, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks amigo. Yes of course I have the full DVD boxset. In fact at one time I had four sets which I was selling off on ebay!! I'll see if I can watch the special dvd over the weekend like I did to Casino Royale which is now an FA of course. Perhaps we need an image of one of the Bond girls in Thunderball? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:24, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What would be great would be to get an image of Bond and Fiona Volpe when she gets shot in the back -that was one of the films most iconic moments I think and it would illustrate both characters in one ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:26, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think of this image? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:29, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. 5 in 1 is not bad is it!! I was also considering swapping the emilio picture for the one with emilio and domino in the casino Image:Ope6.jpg although the colour is poorer - it doesn't show up his tan so much!! LOL. Perhaps I could boost the colour on photoshop. That image also shows his SPECTRE ring. What do you think? I think I prefer the current one -it is of a higher quality ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:58, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I think its looking great!! Could you find any online references for it? That tag has been there for about a year!!! It would be nice to be able to remove it. Perhaps we could aim for a GA with this too ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:04, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I know good work. One of the worst articles now I think is for your eyes only (actually even that is good -just need referncing). You've done a great job of improving the others. I've added a bit about the legal dispute in the intro as this is very important -findind a few references for this should be straightforward I think. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:10, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just realised ther eis vast amount missing. I remember the DVD documentary examines Connery's run in with the shark in Largos' pool and it was for real -his life wa sin danger. Also the underwating breathing apparatus was considered so realistic that top military regimes asked about how to get hold of one following the films release. It mentions this already but ther eis also a lot about the shark near death experience and the carnaval, I'll definately watch it again this evening and take notes ok? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:46, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know Thunderball also won an academy award and was nominated for a BAFTA? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:08, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Me neither. I think this is a bit of generalized statement and should be removed "The film greatly contributed to popularising scuba diving as recreational sport" -theres no evidence for this ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats a great idea having a nav. box for the soundtracks. Hopefully this will encourage the articles to all be cleaned up and improved and eventually turn out like the World is not enough song!! Anyway I've improved Thunderball a bit today -theres a lot of information to be added still -I'll work on it. Eventually we want to see all the Bond films FA right? The only problem I think will be references and their reliability when coming to an FA ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:38, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We'll have to see if we can get some ogg.files uploaded for each of the soundtracks. It would be great to have 30 second clips of each one ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:41, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I've had the chance to look at them all and the film that need the most work now are Diamonds are Forever, Moonraker and For Your Eyes Only. Could you aim specifically at these three particularly referencing the first over the bext few weeks?. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First of all how about thanks Blofeld for expanding the article! Its developed well! Thankyou also for creating articles like Charles Russhon and Maria Grazia Buccella etc leading from it and clearing red links? -only kidding. Mi6 website contains most of the info on this -awards was imdb -only I'd imagine imdb isn't considered a reliable source. I'm sure ther eis another site which mentions its awards. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:18, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA review

[edit]

I saw that you passed Lord of the Universe (documentary) as a Good Article, and I thank you for your time. Might you be interested in giving a little more feedback on the talk page as to why it passed as a Good Article, perhaps using {{PGAN}} ? Cirt 19:24, 1 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Your behaviour

[edit]

I am asthonished that you would talk to me like that after the collaboration talk page.

Are you threatening me ? Do I have to remind you again of WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL.

Note that WP:3RR applies to you, as well. As for WP:OWN, you are the greatest violator, nobody can get on a James Bond article when you're around.

Ths is what people think about you [1]

Tovojolo 11:24, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's what people think? Blofeld apologised Windler gave me two stars. And my FA has also been appreciated on the projects talk page! VPA 16:13, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, that's what people think. Don't leave messages on my Talk Page. I want nothing to do with you.

Tovojolo 16:32, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then I'll have to deal with people. I know how to. Vikrant Phadkay 16:52, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:LTK-title-screenshot.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:LTK-title-screenshot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI (talk) 15:41, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 15:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring a prod

[edit]

Restoring a prod is not an acceptable edit, once another user has removed it. If you believe that the article should be deleted once your prod is removed, take it to AfD. I will be removing the prods once again. Corvus cornixtalk 16:48, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
