Tropical cyclone tracks

[edit]

In the case of Cyclone Mala, the peak winds of 125kts is from the JTWC. At that time the JTWC estimated the pressure at 916 mbar, see the NRL file (if you can decipher it). The 954 mbar figure is from the IMD, though I cannot find the source at this time. The discrepancy between centres is normal, though that is a bit extreme imo. As for conversions between the two, the table on Dvorak technique should be of some help. Note that they are a rule-of-thumb, in the Atlantic in particular things are different (due to more accurate aircraft measurements). As for a more detailed conversion look around on the net for information on Atkinson/Holiday (that is what the JTWC uses).--Nilfanion (talk) 17:19, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia. – Chacor 03:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beryl's pressure

[edit]

Please re-read the TCR. Minimum pressure was 1000 mbar. Please don't introduce factual errors into Wikipedia. – Chacor 04:26, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zoe

[edit]

Do you happen to have a source for that advisory? – Chacor 16:38, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Found it. Have made the appropriate change, following the lead from Cyclone Monica (that is, to use the official number, but note measurement dispute). – Chacor 16:54, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Is there a link to RSMC New Delhi data archive for North Indian Tropical Cyclones? I have put this querry on discussion page and am waiting for help.--Ugaap 16:12, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can find archives of Tropical Weather Outlooks and Shipping advisories. – Chacor 16:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a friendly note, when typing your edit summary, you don't put it between the /* */. The edit summary goes after that section, so other editors can navigate to the section you just edited. :) --Coredesat 04:47, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep in mind that the talk pages aren't for speculating on storms; that's what the Hurricane Wikia is for. A system can only have one eye, although it may have several masses of convection. --Coredesat 04:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BOB 05

[edit]

There is one, but your text was copied right from the RSMC, and their stuff isn't public domain, unlike the US. Also, New Delhi uses both 10-min and 3-min. Chacor 13:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Public domain" means that it's free for manipulation and copying and posting. A public bulletin does not necessarily mean it is public domain. Chacor 14:33, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ARB 02

[edit]

hmm isn't a Deep Depression usually 30 knots sustained winds? Oh an another thing is there a advisory page that mentions the pressure and sustained winds. It seems that the RSMC New Delphi bulletin page leaves out that information. -- グリフオーザー 19:47, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Akila Daily requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.
