Punishment
[edit]Because you keep changing the opening statement to say that it is evil. One, punishment is not evil, evil is a subjective term that each individual sees differently, that is why is is POV. Two, that opening statement is meant to be a generalized statement. Punishment is a broad term, affecting many fields; you cannot give a specific definition for it as the opening intro, that is why the words "subject" is used to describe the person being punished. Also, punishment doesn't even have to be what you would call "evil" to be punishment. Negative punishment is the removal of an aversive stimulus. So, if you put your hand on a hot poker and pull it back, then the next time you sees that poker you put on a glove, then you have just created a negative punishment, because you have removed the aversive stimulus and you behavior has decreased because of that. - Actually, if you receive a fine for a parking violation and it keeps you from making that violation again, then it is punishment. A Penalty is nothing more than some form of punishment. Punishment is the general term. A penalty will always be considered a penalty no matter how your behavior changes. Punishment is not considered punishment unless the behavior actually decreases. If punishment is "evil" then that means that anything "evil" is punishment. If I got shoot someone in the face, for no reason at all, then that would be evil but it wasn't punishment for anything.
