What did I Violate I for 1 am Bruce Seybert and did release the Amber Alert and the Link I Posted was the Facts and History what was wrong?? Please tell! it is My Page! TXBad1 aka Bruce Seybert
Hi, I saw that you reverted my changes to the history section of AMBER Alert. As you were doing a lot of reversions, I'm unclear whether you meant to do that or not, so I have re-reverted to my version. Just in case you actually meant to do that, let me explain why I made the changes that I did:
- a) I removed POV, so that the article would more neutrally reflect the events that occured.
- b) I removed excessive detail. This article should not be relating all the details of Amber Hagerman's disappearance and the search for her. Those details belong in the article on Amber Hagerman. Only what is directly relevant to the creation of the AMBER Alert belongs in the article on the AMBER alert.
- c) The history section contained uncited quotations. That is a big no-no on Wikipedia. Quotations should be attributed to reliable sources, which could include newspaper and magazines. It does not include self-published websites.
- d) I rewrote the section so that it had a proper encyclopedic tone.
- e) I also wikified the article, so that it now has wikilinks to let people get more information about different people or concepts mentioned.
If you believe any of the information I removed actually does belong in the article, please discuss your changes on the article talk page first. Furthermore, I see that you have self-identified as being someone associated with the AMBER alert. For your own protection, it might be wise to read Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy so that you do not inadvertently violate the guideline. Please note that being involved in real-life with the article topic does not make you the owner of the article; on Wikipedia everyone is encouraged to edit every article. I released the Amber alerts and the History is reflective and true! so I am reverting back, People need to learn the Facts not fiction!

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Amber Alert. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Wikipidia has been Notified and if the Facts are not stated will be forced to remove anything about the Name Amber Alert from its Pages, this is being trademarked and will be an infringement, the picture of Amber Hagerman has no releases and as the person over this as given rights by Donna Norris Amber's mother this will happen!
- Please retract the implicit legal threat contained in the statement above. That can get you blocked. Please also note that no one changed the meaning of the content you are edit-warring over, only the tone in which it is presented. Karanacs (talk) 17:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia has been called and we talked!on the phone! and not a threat its facts, thus no violation has been broken! No threat was made to any user on here just facts stated! TXBad1 13:12 august 8, 2008
Question
[edit]You stated "I am the one that spoke at the media symposium and released the Amber alert,". Could you please explain this further? Are you saying that you were involved in the original incidents? If so, in what regards? Ottava Rima (talk) 18:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes I ran the Organization for Richard and Donna and I did release the Amber alert Look at My Page and the orignal letters Press and all over the amber alert on www.amberalertcreator.com page was created to bring more coverage and more coming in the Press we are out to Take away the security here killer thinks they have! if you w ant to call I have no problem giving My phone number its on the net as I am TX Bad1
Okay, thank you. That helps a lot. Now, I saw your situation and I can sympathize. I first came to Wikipedia a long time ago because of someone missattributing a situation. I ran into many of the same problems as you. What I learned is that I took some of the things that were offensive to me or people seeming too cold in too harsh of a manner. Instead of trying to tell them what knowledge I had and trying to work with them to make it "encyclopedic", I berated them and attacked them. I learned since then not to cuss and tried to tone down my yelling. :) Now, don't give out your personal information here, because there are privacy rules that the state of Florida (et al) forces Wikipedia to follow. However, I would like to help you with this. Could you link to the original press releases on the matter and other items? That way, we can "reference" them on the page and have direct attributions. Otherwise, people wont realize where we are getting our information from and there could be copyright problems. Sure, if you are around, you could tell them, but if Wikipedia should last for decades, you won't always be around, so its best to get that out of the way early. Understand? Plus, we need to tone down the first person language in order to sound more "encyclopedic". I hope you wont mind. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:31, 8 August 2008 (UTC) You can find all the Press releases and Info here on http://www.amberalertcreator.com and My personal info is Public I own and internet radio station and Political sites and others! I am Bruce Seybert so when you read Press you will know!
Blocked
[edit]You have been blocked for a period of 24 hours for violating the three reverts rule at AMBER Alert. You may resume editing after the block expires, but continued edit warring may result in longer blocks without further warning. Please discuss your changes instead of reverting, rather than in addition to it.
Also, while you are free to pursue legal remedies through proper channels, bear in mind that discussing those actions on talk pages can be perceived as a legal threat and may result in an indefinite block. You won't win any arguments that way. Base your arguments on their own merits, not on threats of retaliation. Kafziel Complaint Department 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't take the above too harshly. Its just to keep you from continuing to edit back and forth in a quick manner and changing the page during a dispute. These blocks from editing are to encourage future communication between parties in a dispute instead of them just changing back a page. Ottava Rima (talk) 18:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I am a bit upset, But working on a New Federal law with Mark Klaas and Donna Norris amber Hargerman's mother and me speer heading on Federal Level and in Texas state Level but at the Press releases I will undoubtly make a remark directed to wikimedia! But hey thats Just me! I say what I think!and the Facts! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Txbad1 (talk • contribs)
- I am still confused as to what facts you think are being eliminated from the article. Would you be willing to do a paragraph by paragraph analysis of the two versions to explain what you dislike in the changes? I had requested this on the talk page and not gotten a response. Karanacs (talk) 19:07, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
If you are In Texas and would like to Talk on the Phone Please tell me and you can call me or I call you, somethings Happening that I will be happy to fill you in on! Kind of not need it in the public eye yet! My Phone number is on http://www.cellblockradio.net/cbrtexas — Preceding unsigned comment added by Txbad1 (talk • contribs)
- Can we concentrate on the article, please? I am really just trying to improve it to meet Wikipedia standards, and as you appear to have been quite upset by my changes I would like to discuss that with you. I'm going to start a new section on this talk page with the first paragraphs of the history section of the article. Will you help me to find a compromise version we can both agree on? If you are not interested in doing this, please say so and I will stay off your talk page. Karanacs (talk) 19:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok hers where was not true:
In July 1996, Whitson and Richard Hagerman attended a Media Sumposium in Arlington. Although Richard had remarks prepared, on the day of the event the organizers asked Whitson to speak instead. In her 20-minute speech
I was the one being Recognized as a Top community Leader in DFW Metroples and released the amber alert! Donna was at work and Richard was there with me But was me not Him they wanted thats why really the Amber Alert came out from what was on my mind still not on paper ! I am Bruce first trial of Amber alert was Rick Roberts and Richard hagerman and Myself Bruce seybert at the Ball Park in Arlington at the KRLD studioSeybert
- Is that the only part of the proposed version that you disagree with? I'm sorry, but from the way the text is written I assumed that the "I" referred to Whitson, not to Seybert. There were quotes from both in there. That is why it is very important not to use first person - it confuses people! If I change this one piece to read "In July 1996, Bruce Seybert and Richard Hagerman attended a Media Sumposium in Arlington. Although Richard had remarks prepared, on the day of the event the organizers asked Seybert to speak instead. In his 20-minute speech...." would it be okay with you if I put all of the other changes back into the article? Karanacs (talk) 19:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Paragraph 1/2
[edit]Original version:
In January 1996, nine-year-old Amber Hagerman was riding her bicycle on a warm Saturday afternoon when a neighbor heard the girl scream. The neighbor saw a man pull Amber off her bike at the closed-down Winn Dixie Store on Abrams Street, throw her into the front seat of his pickup truck, and drove away at high speed. The neighbor called Arlington, Texas police, and Amber's brother Ricky went home to tell his mother and grandparents what had happened.
Donna Whitson, Amber's mother, called Amber's father Richard Hagerman at work, who rushed home. Richard Hagerman had seen Marc Klaas, Polly Klaas's father, on TV and contacted him, asking what to do, since Marc Klaas had experienced the same thing when Polly was abducted from her slumber party in California and then murdered by Richard Allen Davis, a convicted sex offender who was on parole.
Proposed version:
On January 13, 1996, nine-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas. A neighbor who witnessed the abduction called police, and Hagerman's brother Ricky went home to tell his mother and grandparents what had happened. On hearing the news, Hagerman's father Richard called Marc Klaas, whose daughterPolly had been abducted and murdered in 1993.
Changes
- a) added wikilinks (links to other articles), so people can get more information on topics that have their own articles
- b) removed detail about Polly Klaas. That information is in the article on Polly, and is not really necessary here. I don't feel it adds anything to the understanding of the events around Amber's kidnapping or the founding of the Amber alert system
- c) Removed some detail about Amber's kidnapping. That information belongs in the article on Amber Hagerman (and I have added much of that to the other article). It seems like unnecessary detail in this article, which should focus on the Alert.
Can you please let me know if you are okay with this proposed paragraph, or specific concerns that you have? Karanacs (talk) 19:24, 8 August 2008 (UTC) All looks Good only thing thats needed fact was above here you will see it concerning release to media Yes that was all, and you do great work, I wish you were helping Drafting on the New laws were working on! TY — Preceding unsigned comment added by Txbad1 (talk • contribs)
- Okay, I'll make those changes then. Next time you see something like that, don't revert the whole change. It's okay to edit the section and just make a few little changes. That will keep you out of trouble :) Also, do you know of any newspaper articles that cover this information? I would like to provide citations so that readers have a place to go for more information, but I don't have access to the Dallas Morning News archives. Karanacs (talk) 20:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Karanacs and really I Mean it Thank You very Much, and yes the Sound advice also, for some reason I had to redo it did not let me Just change! Change Please lol I Havent had a sex change lol (In July 1996, Bruce Seybert and Richard Hagerman attended a Media Sumposium in Arlington. Although Richard had remarks prepared, on the day of the event the organizers asked Seybert to speak instead. In his 20-minute speech, He spoke about efforts that local police could take quickly to help find missing children and how the media could facilitate those efforts. A reporter from radio station KRLD approached the Dallas Police Chief shortly afterward with Seybert's ideas. This launched the Amber Alert.) Change
I wanted to note that if you need any future help with some issues, or if someone confuses you with a way they are acting, you can feel free to contact me or to post on my talk page asking for help. 9 out of 10 times its a simple communication problem and both sides can end up happy in the end. By the way, welcome. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 21:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
