GOCE drive bookkeeping
[edit]Hi again, TT, and thanks very much for all your help in the March drive. A request, though; please record your articles in the format at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2016#Totals. We generate the barnstar table with a VBScript which is a bit tetchy about extraneous data (like extra parentheses) and wiki markup (like bolding), so cleaning up the data to run the script is time-consuming when there's a lot of extra stuff. Simply using *O (for old articles) or *R (for request articles) ensures that you get the 50-percent credit. Thanks again and all the best, Miniapolis 14:09, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- My sincere apologies, I should have read the instructions more carefully after I discovered that articles other than those in the three monthly sections could be included! I have fixed the format for the GOCE requests.Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:24, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, and no apologies needed; WP is complicated :-). All the best, Miniapolis 22:47, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

I started the procedure to have the New Wave of British Heavy Metal article promoted to WP:FA. Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/New Wave of British Heavy Metal/archive1 needs discussants. Since you were the WP:GOCE reviewer, I am hoping you might give some comments. Lewismaster (talk) 08:42, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Question about archiving references
[edit]Thank you again for the c/e of "No Time for It". I have a brief and probably stupid and obvious question about archiving references through Wayback Machine. I have used the site a lot when I first started out revising and expanding articles on here and I did not have any problems using it, but lately I have been getting a lot of error messages when trying to archive newer links. I know not all websites are archivable, but I have received error messages when attempting to preserve sites that I know should be able to work.
At best, I can archive one or two links at a time before I get stuck with a wall of error messages. I was wondering if you ever ran across this problem and if you have any advice about it. I have been working on a few articles and would like to archive all the references where applicable, but I am just having a lot of difficulty doing so. I apologize for the long post. Aoba47 (talk) 21:09, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Aoba: I just tried archiving reference #5 from the article and everything was fine. My suspicion, given how fast the counter for the number of archived pages increases, is that the site is crazy busy and just can't deal with the demand. I have had experiences similar to those you describe, although I have never tried to archive one article's citations one after another. (I only do one to point out to a requester that URLs should be archived and provide details how to do it.) If you don't already, you might try backing right out of the site and then loading it again after each page you archive to see if that helps. Sorry I can't be of more help. 21:55, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. I usually just wait until the end and archive everything, which is probably a really bad habit. Aoba47 (talk) 04:39, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi Twofingered Typist,
I noticed that you're active at the copyeditors guild and I was wondering if you can check out a draft of a section I've been working on: User:EtienneDolet/Talat_Pasha. My main concern is that it is too long. I really don't want any information being removed because every single sentence is pertinent and relevant. But if you can make some sentences shorter and less verbose, I'd appreciate it. You're welcome to work on my userpage. By the way, if you're not able to copyedit it, I understand. Just let me know. Thanks, Étienne Dolet (talk) 23:18, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, I just wanted to ask you about the c.e tag you have placed on this article. I feel the article is reasonably well written for a GA standard and doesn't really require a major copy-edit. Yashthepunisher (talk) 02:47, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Yashthepunisher - The section on his personal life caught my attention - it was a mess and certainly not of GA quality. I have done a copy edit and removed the article's c/e tag. I realize that I should have just tagged the section itself. Twofingered Typist (talk) 12:11, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the copyedit. It might have been overlooked during its GA review. Cheers! Yashthepunisher (talk) 02:39, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
