Requested articles

[edit]

Thanks for adding all the photographers to Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/Requested articles. May I suggest that you have a read of Wikipedia's naming conventions? I'm saying that because the redlinks should reflect the eventual article name, and there's no point linking to disambiguation pages (e.g. William Beattie and Henry Smith), and honorific prefixes like 'Dr.' do not form part of article names. Some of the links you added point to existing pages, and the redlinks should thus be changed to create a unique article name. I suggest you go through your additions again once you have read the naming conventions policy. If you are unsure about something, you could ask via your edit summary, or leave a query on the talk page. Schwede66 04:19, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And now that you have created your first couple of articles, my advice is that you should create something a bit more substantial. In their current form, the articles do barely demonstrate how the individuals meet notability. It can be hard to find reliable sources for people who died between 1950 and 2000 on the web, so I suggest you go to the library and look up whether the individuals have an entry in one of the editions of Who's Who in New Zealand; that's your best chance. Without that effort, your articles may well get tagged for deletion, as notability is a core requirement on Wikipedia. Schwede66 18:36, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Reginald Silvester Lediard requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
