Lisa Hannigan

Regarding Lisa Hannigan, myself (Pi) and another editor (JDDJS) restored large sections of the article which you had deleted. I see from looking at the edit history of the article that you initially deleted everything between "Early life and Education" to "Discography" and then after this had been replaced by JDDJS you deleted the "Awards" section also.
If you delete large swathes of an article without explaining why you are doing it then it is most likely that this will be viewed as vandalism and your edit will be undone.
This particular article contains numerous references and citations to attempt to verify the content and so if you believe that the content is factually incorrect, I suggest you go to the "talkpage" of the Lisa Hannigan article, this is found at Talk:Lisa Hannigan and point out what is incorrect, then the editorial community can discuss the changes that need to be made and make them.
This is of course "the encyclopedia that anyone can edit", and so yes, you can make changes to the article yourself, however removing such a large amount of information without explanation will generally be assumed not to be an edit in good faith.
Since you are new to Wikipedia, I will include this welcome message below, which explains quite a bit about how Wikipedia works and how to get started.

I'd like to address the points you made in your message.
Firstly, you say you are unhappy with the fact that the article contains information which you would prefer not to be there, particularly her personal life and the bit about theatre, and you say you would prefer the article to be only about her current career. I am going to disagree with you on this because I believe that as long as the information is verifiable then in this context it is relevant. If the majority of the article was taken up with info about school plays etc they certainly that wouldn't make for a good quality article on a musician, however I believe that the parts which mention her personal life, early life etc are relatively small and therefore add some useful information to the article.
Secondly, you said "I find it disturbing the twist that is put on this with the COI article. That because I know Lisa personally and work with her I am not allowed to control what is put up on the page that everyone refers to to find out about her? This is worrying.". Correct, you can't control the article or its content on the basis of your relationship with Lisa. You are however entitled to contribute to the article (bearing in mind the conflict of interest policy) in an objective manor.
I must of course assert that I do not control the article either, nor does anyone, and disputes about content are in the main driven by consensus and precedent. I myself have no official standing in this respect over and above you. However I am familiar with Wikipedia policy (both formal and informal) and so I'm trying to help you here.
You asked "Can you explain how I can do this?", and yes, somewhat I can. You could for example add context to the article, stating that Lisa is no longer active in theatre. I remember the article mentions a particular group she set up, if this no longer exists you can mention that. As I say these are just examples.
I highly recommend that you go to the article's talkpage (all Wikipedia articles have a talkpage where editors discuss the more contentious issues), this can be found at Talk:Lisa Hannigan, which is generally the place to discuss these kinds of things, and there will be editors there who may have been involved in writing the article in the first place.
