Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you made a change to an article, The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Andy/Andi James

[edit]

What's the story here - did Andy change his name to Andi at some point, or vice versa, or did some of the sources make a typo or autocorrect when reporting the world record? We should be careful to make things as clear as possible for any reader who's researching the subject. (So far as I'm aware, Andi/Andy has been using both spellings interchangeably when interacting with Wikipedia in the past, as recently as this year, unless somebody was impersonating him.) --McGeddon (talk) 13:12, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at this website (http://www.tubechallenge.com/forum/index.php), everyone talking to him (palkanetoijala31) calls him Andi, and they are a Tube Challenge forum! And what i'm typing from doesn't recognize it with an I, just a Y, so could well be auto-correct Tube Geek 77 (talk) 16:10, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for that. I understand what happened now. The watchlist notice indicates that there are active requests for adminship running. Not that you yourself are running. You are welcome to participate in any of the discussions though and I am more than happy to assist you in any areas you have a question in. Welcome to Wikipedia and I hope that you enjoy your stay here! If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Majora (talk) 20:57, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK, i understand now. Also slightly embarrassing...! And thanks for the welcome! Tube Geek 77 (talk) 21:00, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it. It happens. Wikipedia is a (very) confusing place with lots of different layers. If you need any assistance at all on something you are more than welcome to post on my talk page and I will see what I can do. --Majora (talk) 21:03, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re:New page

[edit]

I can certainly give you a hand with creation and DYK if you'd like, what did you have in mind for an article? The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 23:11, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about the moth infestation at the Euro 2016 Final, or something similarTube Geek 77 (talk) 07:07, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well that certainly could be a possibility, providing we can show some form of notability. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 08:19, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I am no longer participating in the WikiCup, but would still like to make this page and let you have points! Tube Geek 77 (talk) 16:24, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help!

[edit]

No problem, I was debating for a while whether or not to set a page for him!He doesn't seem to like the idea though.......Tube Geek 77 (talk) 18:31, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Can't seem to see that tweet, was it recent? Because if so its because i emailed him about permission to use a photo of him. SageWater (talk) 19:34, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Is this better? https://twitter.com/geofftech/status/833703543148154881 If not just go onto his page, it's only a few hours old
Yeah, but I am using an iPad now, couldn't see it on my computer. SageWater (talk) 20:10, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Amusingly you are the one that originally wrote that apps piece. SageWater (talk) 18:17, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I know! I wouldn't have said it if it was anyone else who had done it to start with. I'm not THAT mean... Tube Geek 77 (talk) 19:50, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you say sorry then? Saying sorry for your own mistake, Actually, I guess that makes sense. SageWater (talk) 20:16, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You got me all excited there for a message on something, eight colons now :D SageWater (talk) 07:24, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

May 2017 WikiCup newsletter

[edit]

The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
  • Japan 1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
  • Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.

Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.

So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
