Welcome!

Hello, Treyka, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like SysadminsInFilm, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard. Thank you.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ironholds (talk) 17:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article SysadminsInFilm has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:INDISCRIMINATE; a completely arbitrary list.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ironholds (talk) 17:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated SysadminsInFilm, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SysadminsInFilm. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ironholds (talk) 18:09, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I read both edit summaries and the talkpage message. You seem to be missing the point. Ironholds (talk) 18:10, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When you say that I seem to be missing the point are you implying that I fall short because I fail to *understand* you or because I fail to *agree* with you? There are already articles consisting of arbitrary lists for film producers and directors. There is even a article simply listing man-made objects on the moon.

I may not have contributed a great deal to Wikipedia heretofore but my edits have been constructive and to the best of my knowledge have gone unchallenged. If I'm going to contribute more then I have to start somewhere. I disagree with you calling it an absurd and arbitrary list but that's just my opinion against yours. I'm certainly willing to be proven wrong but that judgement ought to be made by the hive mind and not by two individuals.

I propose the following: the original flagging for deletion indicated a date one week from now when the deletion was to occur. I have sent the link to this skeletal article to several hundred of the top sysadmins in the world. I believe that after one week its fate should be clear. Please augment your delete flag with the end date once more.

(By the way, I'm sorry I deleted your original deletion flag - I wasn't aware of the protocol.)

  • Hi. What I'd deleted was something which looked like a test page, i.e., an experiment. There wasn't any text at all beyond an existing template. I see you've recreated it with more content, which is fine.
