- Will do. Just wanted to make sure it was there, particularly as they edge closer to be listed at ARV. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Patrick_Barry_(kickboxer) Redirect Request
Can you move/Redirect/rename this page Patrick_Barry_(kickboxer) to one that says _fighter or something like that? He has been fighting MMA only for quite sometime now. or tell me how and then fix it :-) David.snipes (talk) 22:51, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- If you want to move it yourself, when you load the page there should be a "move" tab at the top (next to "history"). It'll give you a form where you put in the new article title and provide a reason for the page move. It should automatically create a redirect from the old page name to the new one. If you want to try it out yourself, go ahead. If not, I'll try to remember to do it at the end of the weekend.

Q Any issue making it _martial_artist instead of _fighter? might not be a bad Idea to do them all that way- sounds more professional. David.snipes (talk) 20:55, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
You win
I am an administrator on Wikipedia who for reasons too complex to go into has chosen to avoid conflict with another editor by contributing as an IP for awhile. Your reaction to my good faith edits of Deadliest Catch, which clearly stated are based upon the episodes themselves has pretty much helped me make up my mind to never contribute to the project again. Do what you want, I don't care. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 12:31, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- This is not a contest. My desire is not to beat any person (other than perhaps those who habitually make unconstructive edits). As for my reason in reverting your edits to the article in questions, I've responded to your comments in the article's talk page. --TreyGeek (talk) 14:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

- If you were referring to the URL slapped in there most recently, in my opinion, that would qualify as link spam. I've reverted it. --TreyGeek (talk) 18:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you much, I'm a bit leery of reverting without someone else double checking, and I figured you had some giant red REVERT button on your toolbarDavid.snipes (talk) 20:18, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Generally, URLs in the middle of an article is likely spam. Some external links are spam; if it's not a link to the promotion they are active in, their Sherdog record, or a truly official fighter site, it is often spam.
- As for the REVERT button, it actually says "rollback" and can be acquired through using WP:TWINKLE. In this case the "undo" option available to everyone would have worked just as well. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Protection
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_98#Main_card
Who do I need to talk to? David.snipes (talk) 21:08, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- The information on the page protection policy is at WP:Protect. Once you kind of understand it (I can't claim to fully understand it myself) requests can be made at WP:RFPP. I've already submitted a request for a semi-protection for the UFC 98 page.
- I don't know if you do this or not, and in this case it is difficult to do so because of sooooo many edits... but, when you revert vandalism, try to put an appropriate warning on the person's/IP's talk page. You can find warning templates at WP:WARN. You may already be doing this, I haven't looked. But I noticed a couple of the IPs had blank talk pages and in this case it's difficult to figure out who's doing what. But thought to draw the warning templates to your attention just in case.
- Good job keeping an eye out on the pages. --TreyGeek (talk) 21:35, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- I made a note of the pages- I'm doing a preview of the show for my site and noticed that the main card looked a little thinner than it did- so I just had to revert back to the way it was. Hate to keep running to you and others with minor stuff like this, but thanks David.snipes (talk) 21:40, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hate to but it but, vandalism and page protection is not minor at all.--Giants27 (t|c|r|s) 21:45, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- To Giants27: No, vandalism and needing the page to be protected is not minor, but that's not what David.snipes meant (I don't think).
- To David.snipes: No worries. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I don't mind steering you in the right directions on where to go to find what you are looking for. --TreyGeek (talk) 21:54, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Removed Sci-fi rumor despite source
- That information was sourced. Sci-fi "might" pick it up, maybe not. It was still sourced, so why did you remove it? Ryanbstevens (talk) 00:28, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've made a section in the article's talk page on this issue. The source was a wiki entry which is not considered a verifiable source for Wikipedia articles (WP:VERIFY). The statement is also rumor and speculation which is also not appropriate for Wikipedia articles (WP:CRYSTAL). If you wish to discuss this further we can address it on the article's talk page. --TreyGeek (talk) 00:34, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Pictures
I'm wondering how to upload a picture for an article. The picture would not be mine but it would be for an article about a tv show. I don't know how to do this so if you can help or just upload it for me that would be great. The article is 4th and Long. Thanks. Justastud15 (talk) 20:56, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- If you are intending to upload a 'screenshot' from the show you need to make sure you follow all of the instructions for doing so. (I've only uploaded my own pictures, so I'm going off of what I've seen & read should happen.) Images from the show are copyrighted, but according to WP:NONFREE a screenshot from a television show can be used for "for critical commentary and discussion of the cinema and television." Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria has more information on the policies regarding uploading copyright images; be sure to follow item 10 on that page as I've seen images get deleted for not having all of the requirements stated there.
- As for uploading the image itself, if it is a copyrighted image being used under fair use then you can upload it to Wikipedia itself at Special:Upload. --TreyGeek (talk) 21:15, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- The picture is the logo for the series. I've looked on other images to see how to do it but then mine get deleted.Justastud15 (talk) 21:27, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- Do you know who deleted it? I would imagine they should have put a warning on your talk page to let you know what you were missing. If you know who deleted it, check with them and see what was wrong with image or what you need to do to keep the image in the system. --TreyGeek (talk) 21:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, it just always gets deleted, even when some of the pictures have been mine. I got the logo image up for now. Thanks for the help. Justastud15 (talk) 21:54, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Another one not getting much input (just relisted after 5 days) :\ --aktsu (t / c) 01:43, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- Other than monitoring Wikipedia:Articles for deletion is there a way we can know when an article (that is not on my watchlist) is up for deletion? --TreyGeek (talk) 02:38, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the article alerts thing at WP:MMA is supposed to, but it doesn't seem to catch much (1/10 or something). There's also Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Martial arts where I try to list mine at least. --aktsu (t / c) 02:46, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, cool. I'll keep an eye there. I've also been meaning to kick start the discussion on the MMA Wikiproject regarding notability again. I haven't seen anyone pitch too much of a fit on the recent deletions regarding interpreting notability and I don't expect people to stop creating non-notable articles because we 'formalize' a new notability statement. But still, I think it might be useful to have something that we as a project can point to in regards to notability.
- As I said, I've been meaning to re-kick start the discussion since I think we are very close to a consensus on the wording. Just gotta kick start myself first. :) --TreyGeek (talk) 02:53, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

TUF 10
I appreciate your creation of the next-season article, but understand that it will get renamed when the official full name is published by the UFC.--2008Olympianchitchat 22:32, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't create the article. According to the article history User:David.snipes created the article. I've been monitoring it, adding information when it is available, and removing unsourced information and rumors as they are added. I also realize that should the UFC decide to give it a name other than The Ultimate Fighter 10 that the TUF 10 article would need to be moved. --TreyGeek (talk) 03:40, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Cameron Dollar
The edits I have been making to Cameron Dollar are in no way harmful. It is not vandalism, I do not know why it is such a big deal to have his record in his record box. Every other fighter has it and that is why when I made the article, I made sure to put it in. Fighters with 1-0 or 2-0 records even have it shown. I would appreciate it if we had the record shown. 68.188.29.77 (talk) 19:57, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Unexplained edits are unconstructive. As for the records this dicussion at the MMA Wikiproject shows that people believe adding a record to each line adds to the clutter of the tables and the information is redundant. There are a lot of MMA fighter articles on Wikipedia and it takes a long time to roll back changes to the tables such as this. I would love to hear a good reason as to why that information is needed in the table. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:27, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Then why is it still on there for a lot of the other fighters? I made Cameron Dollar and a lot more that have appeared on TUF. They all have it on there and no one has said a thing to me about it. You only seem to care when I do it to Dollar. I still don't see what the big deal is. 68.188.29.77 (talk) 22:55, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- There are a lot of things going on in articles that shouldn't or that the MMA Wikiproject suggests shouldn't (Running tallies in record history, Unsourced flags next to fighter's names, Flags next to locations). There are a lot of article out there and it takes time to fix the articles. Personally, when I sit down to work on an article it takes at least an hour to properly research the person, write up a quality article with the appropriate references. Considering the hundreds of fighter articles that exist it will take a significant amount of time to fix these articles.
- As for Cameron Dollar being the only article done this way. I will point to Che Mills, Chris Tuchscherer, Dean Amasinger, Efrain Escudero, Jason Dent, Jeremy Stephens, Ricco Rodriguez, Ross Pearson, and Tommy Speer as a sample of fighter articles that lack a "Record" column in the record history.
- I would still be interested in hearing an answer to my previous query. What is a good reason to maintain a "Record" column in the record history? What information does it provide that cannot be directly inferred from looking at the table? --TreyGeek (talk) 02:37, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- When I look at the boxes, I want to see when and what the fighter's record was when maybe the started fighting for a big name brand. It makes it a lot easier then having to take the time to count it. I think it's a great element to have and as for the article thing, it takes me more then an hour. I research everything that I feel needs to be added.
- I will not stop inserting the "Record" column when I make a fighter's article. Dean Amasinger I created so you must have just removed the record column. 68.188.29.77 (talk) 03:45, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- I take back that and will start removing the records (over time). Though I do hope we can stop the flag resourcing. Justastud15 (talk) 03:57, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Cameron Dollar Flag Battle
Something else on Dollar's article is the flag dispute. I wanted to know if it was needed to have references for the flags. The dispute seems to be only with the two of us. No one else has mentioned the flags so I was wondering if we could get rid of the references? 68.188.29.77 (talk) 03:49, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Everything on Wikipedia should be sourced, that is Wikipedia policy. I asked the question regarding sourcing flags in the record history with the MMA Wikiproject. The only other person to weigh in on the matter said "of course it should" be sourced. (discussion). If you wish to disagree with this, I would highly encourage you to contribute to the discussions there. --TreyGeek (talk) 04:11, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, Danny Martinez, his article has Daniel Hinsen with an American flag. I was wondering if that could be proof or what? Could we add a flag next to Hinsen's name on Cameron Dollar (fighter). Justastud15 (talk) 05:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia cannot be a source for Wikipedia (WP:CIRCULAR). So to claim that Daniel Hinsen is American because there is an American flag next to his name in another article isn't enough. You would have to find a reliable, outside source. --TreyGeek (talk) 13:39, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- I have removed the records for all the remaining TUF 9 fighters. Justastud15 (talk) 04:31, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Could you look at partly undoing some of 92.230.225.30 (talk · contribs)'s edits at Royce Gracie? Specifically, remove the "Nowadays there is barely a MMA-fighter who doesn't know [...]" section (unrelated to Gracie being invited to Pride) and re-insert the "In a later interview, Hughes stated [...]" section (sourced and relevant), as well as possibly his change of "Rematch with Sakuraba and testing positive for steroids" to "Rematch with Sakuraba and Steroid Allegations" (he did test positive for steroids, it's not alleged). I think the rest of his edits are OK though. I'm at 3RR so I'd rather not touch it for 24 hours. Thanks and cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 22:39, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm looking over the changes to the article and I think I see what needs to be corrected/edited/adjusted (I think :). I'm going to hold off a short bit before making the edits in hopes the IP will go find something else to work on and the article doesn't go into a full blown edit war (if it hasn't already). --TreyGeek (talk) 23:03, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Seems like a plan. His latest edit could probably be undone outright IMO ("declared"? Complete removal of how high his levels actually where (i.e. actually "off the charts")). Can't say I like persistent POV-pushers. --aktsu (t / c) 23:07, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
TUF 9 Brackets
Could you add the TUF 9 tournament bracket, I know how to do it but I really don't want to. Justastud15 (talk) 03:32, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

DaMarques Johnson
I was wondering if you would fix up the additions I made to the DaMarques Johnson page. I added some things that I found in an interview he did. I just wanted to know if you would fix grammar, punctuation and delete or add things I may have missed or made redundant. The stuff I did is found in his early career part. Thanks so much, 68.188.29.77 (talk) 06:48, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Where do I start?
thanks for the welcome. I want to help out on the MMA project. Where do I start? What can I improve? Obviously there are people working on all the big parts, you are working on TUF 9, other people have probably laid claim to things like UFC 100 or what not. Are there any pages that need to be updated that don't have somebody already assigned to it? I'm guessing that pages don't get assigned as such on wikipedia, but at the same time I'm sure if I just chose an article and started making changes somebody would be a little annoyed. Aj10101 (talk) 08:46, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- One of the first things I did, and still primarily do, is keep an eye on articles for vandalism and improper edits. For this, start adding articles to your watchlist and monitor the edits to articles. If someone adds statements that are clear vandalism or other edits that Wikipedia or the MMA WikiProject considers to be improper, then undo the edits and, preferably, leave the user a warning or notice of what you removed and why. With a couple hundred articles on my watchlist, it seems that often it's all I have time to do. But it's a good start. There are also a lot of articles in need of improving, particularly articles on individual fighters (copyediting, additional sources and/or content, fixes to infoboxes and fighter's record, etc). --TreyGeek (talk) 14:12, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Deletion
I would like to know if you could nominate the article I created for deletion. The article is Jason Pierce (fighter) as I do not feel he is fit to have a page on Wikipedia. It seemed like a good idea at the time of creation but now seeing him do nothing on the show and him not being apart of the UFC makes me think it should no longer exists. Thank you for reading and I hope you agree with me about this if not then I would like to hear why he should have it kept. Justastud15 (talk) 17:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- As well as the Dean Amasinger page. Justastud15 (talk) 17:48, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Might be a good idea to nominate the articles for deletion yourself. If you don't know how to do that the procedure can be found at Wikipedia:Afd#How to list pages for deletion. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I just noticed that as the author of the pages, if you are the only one to have made substantial contributions to the articles, you can request a WP:SPEEDY deletion of the article under criteria G7. --TreyGeek (talk) 17:01, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- The Amasinger page is deleted but the Jason Pierce one is not yet gone. I also put it on the Richie Whitson page I created. Justastud15 (talk) 22:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- They won't delete the Jason Pierce article because of so many people editing it. The only edits made are vandalism. I guess you could put it up for deletion? Justastud15 (talk) 01:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, could you help out at the Strikeforce article? There's the issue I posted about at WT:MMA, but now also Sea888 (talk · contribs) insisting on the lead saying "Strikeforce is a world class [...] promotion" (emphasis mine) as opposed to the NPOV "an U.S.-based [...] promotion". Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 21:14, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've also posted about it at WP:NPOV/N. I'm hoping WP:MMA can handle the issue of "concensus best female fighters in the world" though. Would appreciate it if you could chip in and maybe watchlist the page. --aktsu (t / c) 21:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
UFC being the biggest org in the world is a WP:PEACOCK term that can change accordingly. I am removing it as this is a statment that can change. Please let the page show how important it is. Cheers Sea888 (talk) 00:20, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

PHP-script for record-table
Hi, in case you're interested I've created a PHP-script to create record-tables with the info from Sherdog. It's available here (you'll have to add a fight-finder ID in the URL (and you can also add "&flags" if you want empty flagicons. It wouldn't be a problem to grab Sherdog's listed countries for all the fighters, but as that could potentially involve grabbing quite a lot of profiles I'm putting it on the backburner until I've set up proper caching of info. That's the technical reasoning anyway.) and the source-code is here. Any thoughts or suggestions? Dunno if you have any experience with PHP. I just now used it to update Miku Matsumoto's record if you want to see the (current) output. --aktsu (t / c) 01:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm familiar with PHP. I'll take a look at the script and the output when I get a chance. It may not be until the weekend, but I'll take a look when I get a chance. --TreyGeek (talk) 02:04, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
