There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Longhair\talk 02:32, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I understand that my username gave off the wrong impression of what I planned to use Wikipedia for. I wish to make useful contributions to the site about topics other than Travelbook.

Procedural decline, only one request is needed at a time. 331dot (talk) 08:16, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What topic areas or articles would those be? Are you associated with Travelbook in some way? 331dot (talk) 09:41, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

rename

I'm sorry, you must choose another user name. That one is too close to one we have already.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:01, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Would this name work better? I am not associated with Travelbook. I'm just a fan of the platform and was using the articles that I found online to create a page. I understand if my original name gave the wrong intention. In terms of other articles I want to help with, I'm from Essex County, Ontario and would love to help gather more information about the municipalities there if allowed to edit again.

Accept reason:

Renamed and unblocking per comment blocking admin. Welcome back.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:22, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked the blocking admin if they have any additional comment. While waiting, I suspect that name won't work either as being too close to others. You'll probably need to add something to KayTaylor or KayTay to make it work, if you don't wish to choose something totally different. 331dot (talk) 08:22, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

too similar. we need more characters to make it more unique and less similar.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:39, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is this name too similar to other usernames on Wikipedia as well or is this a good username?

I took the liberty of editing your new selection into your existing request, to avoid having multiple requests open. If you have further comment, simply post it without the unblock request formatting. 331dot (talk) 21:40, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Joy. :) globally renamed Travelbooktm to KayTaylor2018tm-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 22:29, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have no issue with this renaming and unblocking, thanks. -- Longhair\talk 23:20, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You recently mentioned on IRC that you've been paid for some of your edits, including creating Draft:Travelbook (contradicting your earlier claim). Wikipedia policy and the terms of service require you to disclose any paid editing. Have you been paid, or do you expect to be paid, for any other edits?

Also, you uploaded File:Andres Pira.jpg with the claim that it is your own work. You admitted on IRC that that claim is not correct. Do you know who did take the picture, who owns the copyright, and what permission they've granted for others to use it? If not, it must be deleted. KSFT (t|c) 06:16, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I intend on deleting the picture of Andres Pira. I have not been paid nor do I expect to be paid for any other edits.

Hello KayTaylor2018tm. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:KayTaylor2018tm. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=KayTaylor2018tm|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Bradv 14:28, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bradv. I have disclosed the Wikipedia pages that I have been paid for on my user page at User:KayTaylor2018tm. All other pages that have been made under this account or any edits that were made on previously created pages under this account were done to improve my skill set with Wikipedia and thus, I did not get compensated for them. Working in Wikipedia as a paid editor

[edit]

Hi KayTaylor2018tm. I spend time working on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia, along with my regular editing. I am not an administrator.

It is pretty clear from Your edits to date that you are a freelancer or work for a digital marketing or PR agency. Would you please clarify?

I appreciate the disclosure you have made with respect to Travelbook and Dean Kelly, but Draft:Harvey Law Group and Draft:Andres Pira also appear to be paid work. Would you please confirm?

Also, it is great that you are putting things through AfC instead of editing directly, but it appears that you are somewhat misunderstanding the mission of Wikipedia and how the editing community realizes it. Your drafts are unlikely to be accepted unless you learn a bit more about what we do here. I can help you with that, if you like. But first things first -- would you please answer the two questions above? You can reply here, just below this. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 01:44, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, KayTaylor2018tm. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dean Kelly".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CptViraj (📧) 14:43, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
