Welcome to Wikipedia, Trainsskyscrapers! I'm Royal Autumn Crest, and I've been assigned as your mentor. Around 10% of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor randomly taken from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.

You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.

If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia! Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 20:59, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much, Royal Autumn Crest!
I look forward to working alongside you. Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 21:47, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Angie Beyince

[edit]

Hey, just wanted to say that it's been fun working alongside you to get Angie a proper page lol. Can you add her name link to the info box relative section on Beyonce's page? 166.198.161.6 (talk) 17:02, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise! Thank you for all of your contributions. Just added Angie to the infobox relative sections on both Beyoncé and Solange's pages, as well as those bottom-page templates for Beyoncé and Solange. Have a great week! Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 03:47, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at her songwriting credits and I think you forgot to remove one of the unreleased songs, Fascination, from that section in the I Am Sasha Fierce row. It's already in the separate section you made specifically for unreleased songs. 166.198.161.70 (talk) 23:28, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up! Just removed it from the IASF row. I initially thought that based on the writing team (namely Amanda Ghost/Ian Dench) and their extensive work with Beyonce around IASF/Cadillac Records that it would be easy to assume which album sessions it came from, but I could find no cited indication other than the entry on Genius. For all you know, it could have actually been written for Solange's "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams", which was heavily produced by Jack Splash and released a few weeks before Beyonce's. Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 00:17, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

True. I wasn't sure if you left it there on purpose or not, so I didn't want to remove it without letting you know. By the way, I don't know if you saw my edit summary about Angie's age or not but I left one just in case anyone else tries to make it 1982 again. 166.198.161.70 (talk) 14:44, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How does Angie qualify as a music executive? She isn't commonly referred to by that title in the media. And why is Mathew listed as Uncle when he and Tina are no longer married? As far as I know in laws (and in this case former in laws) and step relatives are not supposed to be listed in the infobox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.194.204.46 (talk) 00:49, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You are right about Mathew, and I will remove those shortly. As for a music executive? Definitely. From that article that was written around the surprise release of Self-Titled about Parkwood Entertainment (as well as the Harvard Business School Case), her team have the respective responsibilities (and budgets) of an executive at a major label, but simply don't have underlings who report to them. The structure and culture are different. 2604:3D09:A980:1952:A0F0:1CE4:31F9:2197 (talk) 01:22, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok but I was once told by another editor that if the person was not commonly referred to as such and such in the reliable media sources, they couldn't be labeled that here on Wikipedia. I get that Angie had a particular job when she worked at Parkwood as mentioned 10 years ago but I'm not sure that is enough for her to be referred to that way here on Wikipedia. I'm going to ask another editor I trust. @Binksternet what do you think?

Hi there, Trainsskyscrapers, and thanks for all the biographies of people in music you have created in the short time you've been here. I see a significant number of them are about women. • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi Trainsskyscrapers. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:55, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Trainsskyscrapers,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

September 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! jlwoodwa (talk) 03:57, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jlwoodwa: Thank you for the heads-up. I have usually only filled in an edit summary when a change is controversial or requires additional justification on a high-traffic, high-edit page in the past, but I can definitely do that. Just changed my preferences. Enjoy your day!

Blank sections to Megan: Act II

[edit]

Hey, @Trainsskyscrapers, and thanks for your contributions to the article! Just wanted to come and tell you that adding blank sections without information is not really needed because we can WP:WAIT until an editor comes and adds them. Critical reception needs reviews from sources which can take one day to one month to appear. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 20:50, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cowboygilbert I only do this on brand new album articles (on album release night or the day after) where so many people rush to make edits at the same time that it makes it hard to complete the basics: writing credits, production credits, or samples in the tracklist section. In my experience, creating an empty section has moved the "group" editing focus towards needed expansion of the page (in new sections like critical reception, background, composition, or information about songs), while users who have started editing or creating existing sections like the tracklist can continue to edit them without experiencing editing conflicts every time they submit something.
Enjoy your weekend! I will keep this in mind moving forward. Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 22:29, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
