Mixshow DJs and associated on-air talents
[edit]Hi! As I mentioned in my edit summary, mixshow DJs and associated on-air DJs are generally not notable enough to be included in radio station articles. While I recognize your source as valid, it does not necessarily prove notability in this instance, as many radio stations do elect to include information about their mixshow staff on their official website. That does not, however, automatically mean that they are notable. I will be undoing your edit, for the time being, based on that. If you would like to see the information restored to the article, please start a discussion on the article's talk page and allow for a consensus to be reached. Alright, thank you for the information.
What Wikipedia is Not!
[edit]Please read What Wikipedia is not, especially Wikipedia is not a directory, which includes restrictions specific to articles about radio stations. "For example, an article on a radio station should not list upcoming events, current promotions, current schedules, et cetera, although mention of major events, promotions or historically significant programme lists and schedules may be acceptable." We do not want lists of things that are changeable, such as current staff or current schedules. The radio station website is the best place for information that may change at any time. I never uploaded anything having to do with the current djs besides the 2 most recent to the bottom. May I ask why you are telling me this?
- So you will stop adding names. The sections will more than likely be completely removed. Yworo (talk) 02:24, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- You may also want to note that I removed those lists from WKSC-FM before I even posted on this talk page. Yworo (talk) 02:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, Train! While I do not entirely disagree with your reasoning in regard to WKSC-FM, other stuff exists is not a valid argument. Also, it would help other editors in their interactions with you if you could please remember to "sign" your talk page posts with ~~~~, as that inserts not only your user name, but also a time stamp indicating when the message was left. Thank you! Strikerforce (talk) 02:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Ahh. I understand. One question, what if one editor wants a article or part in and another does not? Like this is my question. What if another editor that is not you re-adds the part about the on-air people back to the WKSC-FM profile?
- If it violates our policies such as by not being cited or by appearing to be a directory of non-notable current programming, it should be removed. To an extent that depends on whether and how closely the article is being watched by other editors. Yworo (talk) 02:33, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ohh, alright. One thing I was just trying to point out was WKSC-FM had all the information on DJ's and WBBM-FM had really nothing. I was just trying to make it fair for both stations because they are their #1 competitor and rivalsTrainguy101 (talk) 02:38, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- (two ecs)I'll take partial blame for that, as I have both articles on my watchlist. The WBBM-FM article tends to have more issues with COI-influenced edits, though, which is why I've probably paid more attention to it versus WKSC. Strikerforce (talk) 02:48, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

- A good rule of thumb is, a staff member who is only mentioned on the station site is not particularly notable. If the local papers have written about them and their relationship with the station (and not just a schedule listing in the paper), or better yet if they have broader recognition (state, national, etc.) they're notable because they've been taken note of by a third party. Certainly some staff and programming fall into the later category. The trick is to know which ones and to cite those third-party sources. Yworo (talk) 02:42, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- (two ecs) To that regard, I would be willing to grant - in the case of WBBM-FM - that current Program Director Todd Cavanagh and Music Director Erik Bradley may both be notable enough for inclusion. Both have been with the radio station for at least as long as I've been in the industry (starting my 11th year this year) and I don't think it would be too difficult to find third-party sources mentioning either of them, should an editor choose to search for them. - Thats good to know! Thank you! I do know that almost all of those have been in all the Chicago radio media papers and also alot in the Chicago Tribune or Sun-Times under the media section.Trainguy101 (talk) 02:46, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Wow! Are you on-air? If so, which station?! Trainguy101 (talk) 03:31, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
