User talk:Tracey Adams
Welcome
[edit]Hello, Tracey Adams, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you have edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Bart133 t c @ 19:59, 19 July 2010 (UTC) Bart133 t c @ 19:59, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Conflict of interest
[edit]If you want to have the article changed, please suggest changes on its talk page. Because you are the subject, you have a conflict of interest with the topic, and major edits by you to the article are likely to be undone (but don't let that prevent you from fixing spelling etc.) Bart133 t c @ 20:33, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- What changes do you want to have made to the article? Do you have any sources to verify the information? We want to be able to verify the truth of the information in the article, because we don't know for sure that you are really Tracey Adams, but if you don't have sources you can still suggest changes. Bart133 t c @ 20:37, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Instead of suggesting changes, if you want to rewrite the article completely, you can go to a page in your user space, such as User:Tracey Adams/Sandbox and write a new version there, then mention it on the talk page. Bart133 t c @ 20:45, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Correcting Tracey Adams
[edit]What specifically did you need help with? Wikipedia has help pages about almost anything you need to know; see Wikipedia:New contributors' help page for some basic advice. Bart133 t c @ 20:47, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hey Tracey. I left a message for you at the article's talk page explaining why I reverted your edit. It includes a diff that Bart might find helpful while he tries to help you work out the issue. He's been around here a lot longer than me so he may know how to fix the thing I couldn't figure out how to fix. Even with the potential conflict of interest issue, the contents of your edit itself didn't look problematic to me. I did a quick search for sources to help with the issue but couldn't find anything other than fan pages noting your films and stuff. If I find anything that might help, I'll post a note on the talk page of the article. Millahnna (mouse)talk
OK to start with, because of the way wiki works, we'll need sources (online is preferable, book, magazine, newspaper archives also work I think). It looks like that Ford site doesn't haven't the link about you anymore so I couldn't find any help there. I'm going to keep googling. I used to know a few good nostalgia type sites for porn actors so I'll see if those are still around. I think I'll post a note over at WIkiproject porn. Given how hard it is to find info about adult actors who were active during that time, they might be a bit more saavy on sources I don't know about. Do you know of any online sources with info about you? I don't think we can use another wiki type page but if there is one for adult films and actors they might have sources we could use. The article mentions a piece in the L.A. Times; any chance you know the details of when that was published?
Once we find some sources I might need a little help from other editors. I usually only play with the way sentences read on here so some of the way refs work escape me a little. But that won't be a problem. Believe me I understand your frustration; it does seem odd sometimes to have inaccurate info when you, as the subject, know good and well it's not right. But we have to be able to verify stuff with sources the readers can look at in some way; otherwise someone pretending to be someone could come on here and make a lot of harmful changes to a biography article. Oddly, I see the same issue crop up a lot with articles on local TV networks and schools.
I have to go run some errands out here on the west coast for a bit but I'll do what I can to help. It make take us some time to the page up to speed so hang in there. Millahnna (mouse)talk 21:37, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm trying to provide some help via email too (it seemed that there was some reason you wanted that). Bart133 t c @ 21:48, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be glad to help, too. Check out WP:AUTO. As has already been suggested, if you provide others with citations to articles, etc. that have been published in reliable sources we can edit them onto your page. Please feel free to respond here, on my talk page, or by e-mail. If you go to my talk page, there's a button on the left hand side that lets you send an e-mail directly.
- Please don't be frustrated. Wikipedia's rules can be inscrutable and its folkways Byzantine, but with a little bit of help, you can help us get the page about you into better shape. Cheers, David in DC (talk) 21:51, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
