Thanks for the images!

[edit]

I think these are probably the first reconstructions of Grandilingulata and Tuanshanzia on the internet!

Currently waiting for the “oblong forms” to get a name, then hopefully they can get something too.

Also, your images kinda look like Goodrichthys’s on YouTube. The name matches up (it’s a ctenacanth), so I assume you’re one and the same? IC1101-Capinatator (talk) 10:15, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

yes, I am Goodrichthys. Sorry I didn't reply earlier I didn't see this until now. I'm also waiting for the oblong forms to get a name. Also I've got some illustrations of Changchengia sp, specifically those from the Chuanlinggou formation prepared in case that article ever gets made. Nice. Also good to see you have Changchengia stuff too. Currently got that one on the list. IC1101-Capinatator (talk) 20:34, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I look forward to reading it. The specific paper mine are based on is "Macroscopic fossils from the Chuanlinggou Formation of North China: evidence for an earlier origin of multicellular algae in the late Palaeoproterozoic", but I believe you need to be part of an organisation like a university to access it. I also find it kinda wild just how different the various specimens of Changchengia are from eachother. I'm guessing it's another form genus like Tuanshanzia. Luckily I’ve got Wikipedia Library access, so I can access the Changchengia paper. IC1101-Capinatator (talk) 22:20, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Lucky! I didn't know that was a thing.
I'm also considering adding the Gaoyuzhuang biota (has that name actually been used in any of the literature btw?) to the Calymmian page and potentially the timeline. Tourmaline Ctenacanth (talk) 22:23, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn’t seem like the name “Gaoyuzhuang biota” has actually been used in the literature, they’re mostly just called the “Gaoyuzhuang macrofossils”.
Also, unfortunately to access Wikipedia Library you need 500 edits… IC1101-Capinatator (talk) 22:25, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's great to know. I think I'll use that when referring to them. I'm pretty new to editing Wikipedia so it'll probably take a while before I can get that ability. While I'm here could I recommend the paper "Macroscopic carbonaceous compression fossils from the Tonian Liulaobei Formation in the Huainan region of North China" if you haven't already seen it? Tourmaline Ctenacanth (talk) 22:36, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, more macroalgae! I think I’ll stick with Changchengia and other early weirdos like Qingshania, though. IC1101-Capinatator (talk) 22:38, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair, these are a bit later. I might have to make the articles for these things once I gain some confidence in using Wikipedia. That plus Dolores creek + Vase shaped microfossils. Tourmaline Ctenacanth (talk) 22:44, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
