[edit]Hello, I'm 2A00:23EE:1478:6AAC:D41C:52FF:FE2C:4707. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, BASABali, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 2A00:23EE:1478:6AAC:D41C:52FF:FE2C:4707 (talk) 07:16, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I work with the organization whose wikipedia page that is. ALL of the information is PROPERLY CITED. It is from their WEBPAGE which is a PUBLIC SPACE and is listed both in the REFERENCES section AND the external links. Please stop making adjustments to this page and removing my changes. Totallywritten (talk) 19:55, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at BASABali, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 07:03, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Wikishovel. All of the content I added/changed was based on reputable sources that were in the citations already. The articles which have now been reviewed by yourself included much, much more information than is now included in the wikipedia article. I did not realize that you had to site the sources repeatedly at the end of each paragraph, I was under the wrong impression that citing them once was enough. - I have worked with the organization in another capacity as an editor and volunteered to assist them when I heard they were interested in completing a wiki page. I am doing this work in my free time as a volunteer (unpaid). My background is in linguistic and cultural studies, so I was interested right away in learning more about what they do and completing research for the page. I also believe it is important for non-profits to have a better presence in Wikipedia so that their work can become better known. All of the information I provided was based on their webpage (the wiki articles users have made, the goals that they describe, the descriptions of mission/approach/activities), articles that I had found discussing their projects, or articles where they were interviewed. Many of these I had not yet cited as I was still compiling more information to add since I am doing this in my free time; I actually have many more sources that I was hoping to include and integrate, I was just working to find the proper place for them. Based on what I read about Wikipedia pages, they are always works in progress and I thought I had more time to make those additions before the content would be removed. Since I am doing this voluntarily and I did use citations of source material (even if they were not on every single sentence because I did not know to do so, all of the content was still pulled from those articles if one were to read them), I do not feel like there is a conflict of interest or an issue with neutral stance per the Wikipedia terms of use. I did notice the use of personal language on the one sentence that you changed from 1st person to 3rd person and appreciate those adjustments, as it was pulled from their webpage and I neglected to change it. To me, this is the same as me choosing to edit an article on Chinese Language or History, which I studied in college, simply because it interests me and I care about it being preserved/represented. - Thanks. Since you're a volunteer for the organisation, please read WP:Conflict of interest. Wikishovel (talk) 09:36, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- To clarify, I am not a volunteer for the organization. I volunteered to do this specific task of my own volition because I took a personal interest in it. Totallywritten (talk) 11:48, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
