Re:D_Yikes article

[edit]

I apologize for not being as polite as I could have with my edit summary. I admit that I did not research your background to determine your knowledge of the Greek language, and dismissed your edit too quickly as "made up". Obviously, you are a native speaker of Greek so I was wrong to decry its validity. I still believe your entry is too speculative and too trivial to mention in the article. I've been fighting a (losing) battle to hold the trivia sections to a higher level of quality. However, if you'd like to re-add it I won't revert it again without discussion on the talk page. "Too trivial" is a strange term. I guess I'm trying to reconcile the difference of opinions between editors who think trivia sections should be eliminated with those who pile on petty details. Personally, I like trivia sections, but the deletists have a point when people add things like, "This is the third time we see Kenny without his hood", "Cartman does not appear in this episode", "This character bears a resemblance to this real life person", or "The preview showed different animation compared to the aired episode". While these statements could be true, they strike me as inconsequential, coincidental, or grasping at straws, and that's what I mean by "too trivial". In my opinion, they only support the deletist argument that trivia sections should be entirely removed. In fact, there is a movement in Wikipedia to remove TV episode articles alltogether, so I feel it's especially important to maintain meaningful information.
I want you to know I thought about your edit last night as they replayed the episode on Comedy Central, and I am starting to think I was completely wrong for reverting it. Perhaps one reason I focused on it was because it was under the lesbian sub-section rather than the "300 references" section. I think the tie to the movie is stronger than your λεσβία translation, and probably merits inclusion (in the movie section) after all. If you would like "credit" for adding it back in, I'll let you go for it, otherwise I'll add it back in by the end of the day. Hoof Hearted 13:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
<wiping egg from my face> ...well it looks like I was wrong on all accounts. Please accept my apology and feel free to add you notable trivia item wherever you feel it is most appropriate. Hoof Hearted 16:40, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
