Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to United Press International. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 13:16, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your message on my talk page. Please note that (a) external links or links to websites are not allowed within articles; (b) adding a link to your own website is a violation of wikipedia's conflict of interest policy; and (c) having a username that is the name of a company or website is a violation of wikipedia's username policy. Ok a) as mentioned happy to revert without the external link. b) as a) happy to revert without the external link c) ok no problem I can try and change this, it was created many years ago. PS I do not know that it is possible to change the username. Please advise.
- Thanks for responding - yes it may be that the username policy has changed since then. I will put the standard warning below because it has a link to the form where you can change it. Cheers Melcous (talk) 13:48, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Username warning
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Topfoto", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 13:48, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
I have sent the username rename request. As far as I can tell it was created in 2008. Assuming this is changed would you still clear the article update if the external link was removed.

.TonyBallioni (talk) 15:17, 18 May 2018 (UTC)- I have blocked this account as compromised because it appears to be shared. You may create a new account, but it must only be for one person and you must not share the password with anyone. TonyBallioni (talk) 15:20, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
I have changed the user now. The changes I wrote in the article that you reverted I did not keep. Can you resend it to me so I can redo? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ImagHistrix (talk • contribs) 15:31, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
