Disambiguation link notification for November 10
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited China Airlines Flight 334, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ATC. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

White Privilege edits
Hi Tony, I've re-added the initial revision of the White Privilege as it is admittedly a rather nebulous concept championed by reactionary neo-academia only held valid by critical theory and relativism rather than empirical evidence. The whole thing is sort of an appeal to ignorance, basing it's legitimacy on the principle of "You can't disprove it!" It's kind of a concept that you cannot prove, but cannot disprove at the same time. In fact, I don't think I've seen any empirical evidence on that page, just the opinings of a tightly controlled set of authors! It's not something that is beyond the reach of social sciences, you know. I've abstained from forcing in information into a section designed to be a quote or opinion from an author, however I do think I'll try and make it more obvious that it is an opinion or quote rather than dogma.

Ovarian Cancer National Alliance
So the edit I made (I wasn't logged on when I made it) to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Page was a deletion of the final sentence from the section Turn Up the Heat on Ovarian Cancer! A Celebration of Women Chefs, which contained information about the Alliance's Teal Gala, a separate event from Turn up the Heat, and it also contained a statement about the 15th anniversary which was also misleading, as the 15th anniversary in 2012 was that of the Alliance, not the event. I had intended on returning to the article and cleaning up the content more, as I am a current employee and have a greater knowledge of the events the Alliance hosts. Jakeyjake13 (talk) 17:25, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Jakeyjake13: Hi, thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! After another review, I found your edit to be constructive and reinstated it. However, as you are involved in the Alliance, please make sure to edit from a neutral point of view and make sure that all information is verifiable so that there is no original research. Information that cannot be verified are subject to removal. I have also posted more information on your talk page. Best, Tony Tan98 · talk 21:44, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Friendly request.
Hello there! I've been working through Wikipedia trying to bring the HTML code up-to-date and noticed your signature is using obsolete <font>...</font>
tags. I'd love to help you bring your signature the current standards, and if you are interested, I suggest replacing:
<span style="color:#28589C;">Tony Tan</span><span style="color:#4775FF;">98</span> <span style="color:#000000;">·</span> <span style="color:#177245;">talk</span>

<b style="color:#28589C">Tony Tan</b>98 · <span style="color:#177245">talk</span>
- which will result in a 186 character long signature (41 characters shorter) with an appearance of: Tony Tan98 · talk
- compared to your existing 227 character long signature of: Tony Tan98 · talk
- — Either way. Happy editing! — Technical 13 (e • t • c) 05:32, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Technical 13: Thanks for the message! I have made the change above to my signature. Tony Tan98 · talk 05:43, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

- @197.82.207.12: Thank you for leaving a message. Welcome to Wikipedia! I have removed your edit because it did not cite a verifiable source and it is not written in an encyclopedic tone. I have left more information on your talk page about citing sources. Also, if you are involved in the company, you should read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest first. Otherwise, if you are still confused, I recommend that you go to Wikipedia:Teahouse and ask any questions you may have there. Of course, you may also ask me if you would like to. Also, please don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes in the future. Best, Tony Tan98 · talk 10:10, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
short story
In a nutshell,
- 2012 (probably before)... there was a prolific problem, which resulted in some blocks.
- Since then.... while one or more blocks was still in effect, a new IP address would be used (sockpuppet to do block evasion), which would result in new blocks.
- For awhile we were doing rangeblocking and admins were resetting the clock for each pending block whenever the IP would hop to a new IP while they were running. That worked pretty well, but was labor intensive.
- Another ed who ran across the issue posted at my talk page in the thread ""Edits by block evading socks are revertible on sight", which you might find of additional interest.
- I'm intentionally leaving out any characterization of the comments by the IP at talk pages and via edit summaries; fact that they are unwilling to wait out their block is sufficient to continue reverting their contribs and reblocking them.
- As AR said, if you want to claim any of the IPs edits as your own, go ahead - and we'll let BRD unfold like usual.
Have fun.... lesson learned, I hope.... before running off to ANI, next time you aren't sure you understand something questionable, give the other party plenty of time (few days) to answer unless they provide some really eggregious evidence in the meantime (e.g., another few reverts after a 3RR warning).
Carry on! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 00:40, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
