I have taken a look at the Stillwater website. However, I cannot find what products Stillwater develops, manufactures or sells. If you can, please provide links to credible sources that discuss Stillwater's products. Thanks. Rilak 15:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Stillwater is seeking partnerships with computational science and engineering ISVs and IHVs. The technology offered is a new platform for computational science to enable interactive supercomputing. The website is not ambiguous about that at all. So, what needs to get done to not have my contributions be constantly ripped?
- Just because your company makes related products, it doesn't mean that there is a reason for it to be in the article. External links are further reading and knowledge, not advertising. -- John Reaves 17:41, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
{{helpme}} Knowledge of computational science is what we are advancing. I contributed links that got removed to pages that had generic links to IBM, Microsoft, and SGI, so it appears that there is some double standard here. I think I get the basic gist of the knowledge concept, and I agree with it. My thinking is that since Stillwater is redefining computational science that folks that might be interested in this topic and find it via Wikipedia might be interested in knowing something about Stillwater too. If this is something that the editors don't agree with, let me know and I'll move on. Tomtzigt 19:48, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- If someone was interested in knowing about your company, they would probably be looking for the article on your company. Since the company's website is intended mainly to promote the company, and not to educate about computer science, it is inappropriate to add links to the company's site to articles not directly related to it. Wikipedia needs reliable, academic citations to back up material in articles on academic subjects. You may want to take a look at our policies on conflicts of interest and advertising for more reference. Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
