Welcome

[edit]

Hello Tom and welcome to Wikipedia. With regards to your recent edits to East Hull F.C., the squad information was removed as (a) it was incorrectly formatted (b) it was unsourced, and (c) we try to avoid having squad lists on clubs as low in the pyramid as East Hull as they are almost never updated, and can end up many years out of date.

As well as the squad list being problematic, there were also a couple of issues with your editing in general. Firstly you repeatedly added the material despite other editors removing it. If you make an edit that is undone, you are expected to try and gain consensus for the change on the article's talk page rather than repeatedly trying to force it onto Wikipedia. This is called the WP:Bold, revert, discuss cycle, or WP:BRD for short. If you revert other editors more than four times in 24 hours, your account will be blocked for violating the WP:Three revert rule. Secondly, you mentioned that you are a member of the club's coaching staff. This means you have a WP:Conflict of interest with the article and are very strongly discouraged from editing it. If you come across any errors in the article, please start a discussion on the article's talk page to try and get it amended rather than making the edits yourself. If no-one responds quickly, you can use the {{request edit}} template to try and attract someone to help. Cheers, Number 57 20:08, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good Afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to get back to me. In regards to what you’ve said are you able to offer me assistance in how the current squads members should be formatted. We are striving forward as a club and would like to be seeing as a club who sets professional standards etc. We would very much like this information on our wiki page. I look forward to receiving your response.

I think it's important to stress that the club should have no involvement in what appears on their Wikipedia article. Wikipedia is an independent encyclopedia, not a venue for promoting the club. As stated above, I think it's extremely unwise to have squad lists for clubs at this level in the pyramid as they are rarely updated. There is a repeated pattern of editors adding squads in an initial burst of enthusiasm and then quickly disappearing, leaving them out of date – I have seen squad lists five years old on some articles!
