- Welcome!
Hello, Tomcollins88, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for helping us build a great free encyclopedia. We have five basic principles, but other than that, we advise that you be bold and edit. If you ever have any questions or need help, feel free to leave a message at the help desk, and other Wikipedia editors will be happy to assist you.
Thanks again and congratulations on becoming a Wikipedian!
P.S. New discussion threads for you will appear at the bottom of this page.
This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Witch Wraith, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://signedpage.com/shop/witch-wraith-by-terry-brooks/.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) MadmanBot (talk) 02:46, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Witch Wraith
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Witch Wraith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://signedpage.com/shop/witch-wraith-by-terry-brooks/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - MrX 02:55, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
The article Witch Wraith has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable book. Fails WP:NOTBOOK.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 03:00, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Book summaries!
[edit]Hiya! I just wanted to give you a head's up on book summaries: we can't use the actual book blurb from the jacket. It's really frustrating, but it's a copyvio issue. In order to use it we'd have to get permission from a bunch of different people and so on, which isn't always guaranteed to cover us. In any case it's usually easier to write out your own summary or synopsis and use that. I think I've sourced the other two books well enough to where they could be kept, although I can't guarantee it. Trade reviews are always sort of iffy when it comes to deletion discussions. Anywho, I was wondering- have you read the previous two books in the trilogy and if so, would you be interested in writing out a full synopsis for them? Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:43, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- I hope this is where I reply.
Thanks for the heads up. It seemed to me when writing it, that publishers would want that stuff copied far & wide. It's free advertising for them. After I edited my summary, I did a little looking up. Random House (who owns Delrey Books) specifically states copy almost anything found on our site (others probably have similar policies, but I haven't looked yet).[1] I do see that you have to include the copyright info, which I had failed to do. There's probably a setting in wiki that lets me state the copyright license type as well. I understand wiki wanting to be careful, but in the time it took me to reply why it shouldn't be deleted, it was already deleted. Very frustrating.
I'll remember this next time, but it could be a while. I think this was probably the first page I created in about 6 years. Usually I just do minor edits to existing pages. In this case I was updating the release dates and that tag to nowhere was bugging me, so I spent some time on it.
I'm only just starting book 1 actually. And I'm not very good at writing summaries or synopses. Even my reviews on Goodreads are usually just 1 sentence. But if I get really motivated after I read them, I may (if someone hasn't beaten me to it). It looks like you used a template. If so, is there a place I can see all templates? Thanks for your help. - I agree- it's really frustrating. I have to say that writing the synopsis is often my least favorite part of writing an article because many times I haven't read the book and have to cobble things together from reviews and other secondary sources. As far as book type templates go, I got this one from WP:BOOK (also located at Template:Infobox book). A big gigantic template repository for the Wikipedia stuff is at "Category:Wikipedia templates". (Just type that into the search bar and it'll take you there.) Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:26, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
