Question from RealShawnShade (11:43, 14 May 2024)
[edit]I created this account to create a Wikipedia page for myself. I'm a musician and was trying to create the page. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. I wrote out the article, but I think it posted to my personal profile instead of an article. --RealShawnShade (talk) 11:43, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure you're in the right place. This is User:Tol's talk page, so unless you're specifically asking a question to them, somewhere like the Teahouse is probably better. Anyway, it's probably for the best that you posted it to your userpage rather than an article – you shouldn't write an article about yourself. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:09, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Jlwoodwa, just so you know, this was delivered as part of the Growth Team features' mentorship tools. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:33, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, RealShawnShade; welcome to Wikipedia! While we welcome contributors to write new articles, I would strongly advise you against writing an article about yourself, as this would be a conflict of interest. This would make it substantially more difficult to remain compliant with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, such as ensuring that a topic is notable and writing with a neutral point of view. If you are still sure that you want to write about yourself, please read the entirety of the conflict of interest guidelines that I linked. As for what you've written, you did create the page at your user page, User:RealShawnShade, so I've moved it to Draft:Shawn Shade for you. I would like to warn you that the page is currently not neutrally written; in fact, I would consider it to be exclusively promotional in nature. As such, it could be deleted at any time under Wikipedia's speedy deletion criterion G11. I would recommend that you either edit the page so that it's written in an encyclopedic, non-promotional tone, or request for it to be deleted by adding the wikitext (code)
{{db-g11}}
to the top of the page. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
