Notability of Shaking Up Shakespeare
[edit]A tag has been placed on Shaking Up Shakespeare requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:34, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Lewis Hamilton, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:56, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi
A number of people have now told you that your Shaking up Shakespeare article is neither neutral nor noteworthy. It has been deleted twice. What I suggest you do is write a draft article in your userspace e.g. User:Tobyphoby/Shaking up Shakespeare. Then you think you have got it neutral, and established it as noteworthy, please get an experienced editor to review it. Note that if the subject is not well known then no amount of editing will make it well-known. DJ Clayworth (talk) 18:46, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- This is what I would have said on the same topic. I have restored the deleted content to User:Tobyphoby/Shaking up Shakespeare, the page that User:DJ Clayworth created for you, but I echo his concerns; right now, the article will be immediately deleted again and it needs a lot of work -- even if it's possible to prove that the topic is notable, and I tend to doubt it based on what I've seen. However, doing the work is up to you. You might find WP:Your first article to be of use. If you have further questions about Wikipedia policy, feel free to leave me a note. Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
