Welcome!
[edit]Welcome Tmaraki (again!) to both Wikipedia and to COM482!
I saw that you picked The Enchantments. I've hiked there before and it's truly a wonderful place. Although I urged you to pick a stub, I noticed that the The Enchantments is C-class, you can see that the article is quite advanced and has quite a few citations.
That fine, but it does mean that you are likely going to need to dig a bit deeper to make significant improvement to the article. Look at the talk page of the article (Talk:The Enchantments) for related WikiProjects that will have links to (even more) excellent articles on similar topics which should point you at templates and examples of how to improve the article. I'm looking forward to seeing watching the article develop over the next week. —mako๛ 14:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Mako! That's awesome to hear you've hiked through the area. It's on my bucket list to do the same, so if you have any tips let me know! I hope this topic will suffice for the assignment. I know you wanted a stub article, but I'm hoping my additions will still contribute well to the page. I specifically wanted to add a conservation section, and possibly more relevant information to the history section. So, I'll definitelytake a look at through the WikiProjects for additional links. Thanks for the insight! [[User:Toshie Araki |Tmaraki]] (talk) 00:35, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

[edit]I also noticed that you didn't do complete Task #2, Part 2 (i.e., practicing to communicate on Wikipedia). This is an important skill to master before you starting making live edits so I hope you do this! —mako๛ 14:42, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Mako- I just posted to your page and to Jordan's Talk page User talk:Jfinlay8 to complete Assignment #2. So sorry for the late submission![[User:Toshie Araki |Tmaraki]] (talk) 00:30, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
Feedback on your draft
[edit]Greetings Tmaraki! I've just taken a look over at User:Tmaraki/The Enchantments. The new section you've added on conservation looks good.
I had a few comments:
- You've expanded the lede of the article substantially. This might be a matter of taste but it feels a little overburdened to me. Why don't you take a look at WP:LEDE and/or some other really excellent featured or good articles on similar topics to get a sense of how Wikipedians would treat this.
- I wonder if any of the organizations you mentioned in new the text should have red links on them.
- Some of the new text seems to be more general text about things happening in the broader wilderness area. Since the Alpine Lakes Wilderness has it's own article, I think its worth a little more effort to try to make it clear what this information has to do with the subject of your article. If this information would be better off in that other article, maybe you should move it there?
Once you've done a final pass to clean up some of this stuff, please go ahead and move your changes over into the live version. I think with another pass, you'll be in good shape! —mako๛
