Thank you so much for uploading the logo of Pokémon (the English version of Poketto Monsutā). I actually felt offended for a second when I saw it, as I hoped to get eternal fame for uploading a png image of the logo. But this svg version is undeniably better. In an attempt to repair some of my hurted pride, I have improved the FUR a bit ;-). Now, I have a few questions:

  • Did you really made this image yourself, because the source doesn't say that it is self-made. Instead, it gives a link to some pdf file.
  • What program do you use to create your svg images?
  • Could you make the Pokémon logo a little bit smaller? Preferably the size of the png version?

Again: thanks for uploading! Keep up the good work. Cheers, Face 18:46, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the quick reply. It took me a few minutes to understand why you needed the logo to be in a pdf file however. Until I noticed that the logo in the document is a svg. Apparently the image is automaticaly converted into this when added to a pdf (just like in Flash). I do wonder though: couldn't you convert a logo to vector graphics yourself? It would have saved you the time you spend on finding a pdf :p. Cheers, Face 20:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the creators of that Pokémon Learning League (great project btw, I did the trial lesson) must have had official permission to use the characters, logo and trademarks, so it should indeed be a reliable source. Companies, and especially multinationals like Nintendo, often handle strict policies regarding the use and appearance of their logos. This is also the reason why I asked you to shrink the default size to that of the png image, because I knew that the png came from an official website. I've compared your svg to the logo on pokemon.com, and they are approximately of the same size. Thanks again and cheers, Face 10:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Canal D Logo.svg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Canal D Logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Vector equivalent

[edit]

If you could change the Canal D logo colour that'd be great. As you can see from the website, the logo uses a darker colour blue rather then the lighter colour of your logo, as well even with the Canal HD logo in the article, there is a difference, it'd be best if there was a consistency there. Yellow emblem

[edit]

Hey, I noticed you uploaded this image, but the drop shadow was a solid oval (rather than a radial gradient). It looked awesome otherwise. I took the liberty of fixing the shadow and I just thought I would let you know in case you want to revert for some reason. Hope you don't mind! Cheers! -- Tkgd2007 (talk) 18:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding the radial shadow, I was just too lazy to go and fix it myself, although I was thinking about it ...if I knew how. Originally it had a radial shadow, but for some reason it wouldn't upload as one. I've tried Adobe Illustrator and inkscape, so if you don't mind letting me in on your secret, that'd be great! As for converting that clock image into SVG, I really haven't had the time, but I promise I'll get to it soon. Thanks! -- penubag (talk) 02:06, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For some reason I'm pretty sure Adobe Illustrator doesn't currently support alpha controls for colour stops in gradients. In Illustrator, you can adjust the master opacity of a layer and that's it. If you open a file (like you did) into Illustrator, it ditches the opacity for some reason. Frustrating. So yeah, I opened your file in Inkscape and selected the shadow oval. Then I went to Object>Fill and Stroke and then clicked Edit... to modify the radial gradient. I just moved the opacity slider down to zero and voila! Hope that helps! Cheers! -- Tkgd2007 (talk) 02:46, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks for the tip, I'll take note of it. Actually when I recall my inkscape problems, it was actually the blur tool that didn't upload correctly (which was what I tried using). I finished with the clock png->svg process but sadly, the png version looks much, much better when scaled down to 50px. Maybe you have an idea? -- penubag (talk) 03:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Here are the previews:

To tell you the truth, I know absolutely nothing about svg and XML coding, so I wouldn't know how to enter in additional codes. The only way I know of obtaining the source code for svg files is by viewing source from Firefox. Hopefully the devs can figure out a way to fix the svg renderer because it's been F-ing up a lot especially when rendering type and shapes from Inkscape (see here). I'm still not sure why this didn't upload correctly, if viewed in inkscape, it's perfect. Anyway, when I saw your version of the blue clock....holy crap, that's good! I suggest we replace all instances of the blue clock with your svg one. I can edit the blue and make an orange variant. After that, we need to work on Template:Newsrelease. Well, until then --penubag (talk) 16:05, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for linking to the fonts list, that'll really help me in the future. I've finished with the orange clock (here) but you may still want to fiddle with it. I had a really good idea for template:newsrelease, I went ahead and already implemented it. I hope you like it! Cheers! BTW, good work on the Emblem scales picture, I used your idea for template:newsrelease. --penubag (talk) 05:06, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tkg2007, I left a reply at Wikipedia:WikiProject Current Local City Time. It's important to be careful with this project because it originally used a template that was used by thousands of wikipedia articles. There was also a discussion about categories for deletion WP:cfd. See comment at the project. However, I think it can be done. --CyclePat (talk) 19:44, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Hi Tkgd2007!
We thank you for uploading Image:Fake Yellow Sub.svg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Pikachu

[edit]

Sorry to bother you again with my stupid Pokémon obsession, but I just uploaded something nice: an SVG version of Pikachu. I think it could be much better then the PNG file we currently have. The image was originally a CDR file, which can be found here. I converted it to SVG, decreased the size and increased the width of the borders a bit. Doing so, however, clearly took its toll on the quality. If you compare the SVG with the original CDR file, you propably see what I mean. Because I'm not really sure what to do about it, and because you got some experience with this, I was wondering if you have any suggestions to improve the image? Can you help me? Cheers, Face 18:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm truly sorry, but I don't think it works. I have reverted it. Thanks for your help anyway. I've taken this to the graphic lab. Perhaps they can help. Cheers, Face 21:24, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
