Tintin, Nice article on Nana Joshi. The Manual of Style quotation information that I was referring to is in Manual of Style-Quotation Marks:
Note: if a word or phrase appears in an article with single quotes, such as 'abcd', the Wikipedia:Searching facility considers the single quotes to be part of the word and will find that word or phrase only if the search string is also within single quotes. (When trying this out with the example mentioned, remember that this article is in the Wikipedia namespace.) Avoiding this complication is an additional reason to use double quotes, for which the difficulty does not arise. It may even be a reason to use double quotes for quotations within quotations.
So, if you want "Nana" to work well in a search, then the double quote works. For example, if someone was to put Nana and cricket in the Wikipedia search, the Nana Joshi article would come up in the search results. Note, this is the double quote ", not two single quotes ( ' ' ).
Hope this helps. —ERcheck @ 01:14, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
DSI
[edit]Will update once every two days at least. Welcome to India and the weather in Chennai. Idleguy says he may accept admin nom after a couple of weeks. Do push him to accept it - if he doesn't I wd assume that you wd take his place <g>. btw, do you still archive DSI or just delete the old ones? Lets bring all Kerala Wikipedians under one list
[edit]Hello! I've created a template Template:User KERALA wiki as well as a category, Category:Kerala_Wikipedians in an effort to bring together all the Kerala Wikipedians. I believe there are no such existing categories. So, please add either the template (which will automatically add the category) or the category to your userpage. Thanks! thunderboltz 06:01, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
R.P. Singh
[edit]My take on it.
- I feel R.P. Singh could still be the current cricketer's article. More people will look for the current cricketer than the former one.
- Let us create, R.P. Singh (disambiguation) listing the two articles.
- Rudra Pratap Singh could be redirected to the disambiguation page.
- R.P. Singh article could say,
- For the former cricketer born in 1963, see R.P. Singh (former cricketer). For others, see R.P. Singh (disambiguation)

C. Ramaswami
[edit]Hi Tintin. I'm at work, so it'll be late this evening before I can take a look. Johnlp 12:21, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Right, Ramaswami was given birthdate and "presumed dead" between 1988 and 1991, as you know. It then reverted back to a birthdate alone from 1992 to 1995. Then "presumed dead" reappears from 1996.
Maka is birthdate alone until 1999, when the word "dead" appears. The present wording for both dates from the new typography used for the first time in the 2004 edition (I think the typography changed then, but I can't find my 2004 edition!) when it became d. unknown. Your msgs. on my talkpage
[edit]Hi Tintin, I will look into them. I was in the midst of DYK updation when you were sending those messages. A recreated PROD deletion cannot be deleted by CSD or PROD - it has to be taken to AFD. Also, it is not necessary for anyone to improve an article before/after removing PROD. Again, such cases need to be taken to AFD. I feel that "CricketWatchDogs" is notable, because it got lot of press in its earlier avatar of ihateganguly.com. It also led to formation of a rival site, ilovesourav.com. It can probably be expanded. the Filmfare 50 years article can be probably put up for AFD - I will think about it. The other article under the wrong name, I'll delete it. btw, I cannot resist the urge to state this, given that I am fresh from a DYK updation.

"Shock" and "Daddy" White
[edit]Hello, Tintin. I've changed the piece about 1771. The Reigate player was Thomas "Daddy" White, who was a noted opponent of Hambledon through the 1770s. "Shock" White was a Brentford man and quite different. In fact, we have records of two different matches played on the same day in 1773 and these two were involved, one in each game. All the best to you. --Jack 10:44, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Brabourne stadium
[edit]I think 35,000 is a bit too high. The stadium hardly has a mention in the papers so it would be difficult to ascertain the strength of it. I've been to it a long time back and 20,000 seems a likely figure. The Rolling Stones concert info would probably also include the capacity of the ground too. [edit]Kerala Noticeboard
[edit]You are right, we have a good number of active Malayali editors. And often all the discussions about Kerala end up on Talk:Kerala. Do you suggest we go for something like Wikipedia:Notice board for Kerala-related topics or Wikipedia:Notice board for India-related topics/Kerala ? -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK 07:01, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Haha.
About the nedumpally article, I think it fails notability. The fancy history part, is something it shares with perhaps half of Kerala's population. It is interesting how this link in the references section in turn cites the wiki article as its reference. Anyhow, considering that the Vakayil family history was put for deletion, this should be too, IMO.
And check out Kerala notice board and make the necessary edits and additions. I ripped it off the India notice board (*smiles sheepishly*). -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK 10:02, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
