Siglinda Scarpa
[edit]If you disagree with the deletion of an article, it is not appropriate to call other users bullies with a sense of entitlement. The appropriate thing to do is discuss why you believe the article should stay with the user who nominated the article for deletion and/or the admin who deleted the article. User:Crispulop nominated the Siglinda Scarpa article for speedy deletion under reason A7; "an article about a real person that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject." Then User:DGG deleted it under reason G12; "Unambiguous copyright infringement: http://siglindascarpa.com/bio.html". DGG then explained in great detail at User talk:Tabbboooo#Status and Advice why he deleted the article and gave solid advice in creating a new article about Siglinda Scarpa. That is a lot more information than is usually given out to the creator of a deleted article. He didn't specifically say so, but I believe he gave that courtesy knowing that you are new users and part of a class. If you disagree with Crispulop's or DGG's reasonings, you should discuss that with them. --Geniac (talk) 00:57, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sir/Ma'am, I don't disagree with the deletion of the article, as we decided to scrap it weeks ago. I certainly did not refer to anyone in particular in any way on my actual (in real life) friend's talk page. We simply have had a rough go of it from the vioery start and we don't know how this whole thing works. I meant no harm. I was unaware of the rules and did not know there were things you couldn't say on another user's talk page, and I have since deleted it and tried to delete all correspondence regarding it. I would just as soon not discuss it further if you don't mind. I apologize for my ignorance, but I am required to keep this account active for just a few more days while class is still in session. Thank you. --Tinaface86 (talk) 01:39, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- I understand your frustration, as Wikipedia can be a very confusing place sometimes. If you need help with anything, there are several resources available besides your professor. There's the Help desk, Teahouse and Editor assistance. Live help is available on IRC: #wikipedia-en-help connect. You can also just add
{{help me}}
to your talk page and somebody will drop by to help. Is there something in particular you need help with before your class ends? --Geniac (talk) 04:56, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

- Well yes, actually. Our class is split into groups and we have several different articles, as well as one as an entire class. My group has been doing the Goathouse Refuge and we have been trying to get reviewed for Good Article status since late March. Even weeks after all of the other class groups had been reviewed, we had still not gotten any feedback. Someone outside of the group tried to help illegitimately , and it was a complete accident but, to make a long story short, we have been trying to work with someone else to be reviewed and help our status by the end of class on Wednesday morning but he seems to be very busy. These are just some of the problems and frustrations we have been working through. Also, the user DGG seems to have taken a special interest in me now and is specifically going to pages that I have worked on and adding banners we haven't had a problem with before. For example, the article below is the one we did as a class that I don't have any actual material contributed, and yet for some reason it is on my and Tabbboooo's talk pages but not anyone else in the class, and it has been up for 3 months at least. He/she has also gone to our Goathouse Refuge page and added a banner even though we are already working with a reviewer on that exact problem, as is detailed on the talk page. We really just want Good Article status on that page, and we have had almost no help and we all have other classes and finals. Other groups have, like I said earlier, had theirs reviewed, edited, and finished for weeks now. It's the eleventh hour and I'm sorry to be venting like this but we're all frustrated and don't know where to turn. I'm graduating in 4 days and have family coming in town and etc etc and we all just really want this done. Thank you so much for listening (reading). I do really appreciate the help. --Tinaface86 (talk) 05:39, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- To clarify, Seannator and I also got the notification, so it's not just you and Tabbboooo but it is certainly only within our group out of the rest of the class. He also put one on our instructor's page --MangoDango (talk) 14:20, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oh that makes sense... He thinks our group has a bunch of articles or something. I didn't even think to check your pages last night. I'm sorry- we're apparently in his cross-hairs and I don't know if it's out of spite or what. Another thing I don't know is WHO can remove that banner, since we don't really seem to have anyone reviewing or helping us on the actual article anymore. This is so tiring and I have other finals and a million other things going on and I know everyone else does too. I have a Chaucer final from 1-4 (it's going to feel awesome to physically put a pen on a real piece of paper and write about a book after all this!) and then this is the VERY LAST class of my undergrad existence so hopefully Geniac will have some advice for us or AirCorn will come through or SOMETHING. I'll check back in when I get back from campus. --Tinaface86 (talk) 16:20, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Well, it looks like Goathouse Refuge is not the only article your class is working on that hasn't passed Good Article review. James B. Hunt Jr. Library and Driverless tractor haven't been reviewed yet, either. Your syllabus says, "Throughout the course each group is responsible for writing and developing that article toward the goal of attaining Good Article status." That doesn't sound like the article must attain Good Article status, just have the goal of attaining Good Article status. I see that a user un-thoroughly assessed it. To request reassessment of an article,
{{subst:GAR}}
to the top of the article talk page and save the page. - If you have a problem with another user, the first step should be to ask that user on their talk page about their edits. If you feel you are being hounded, that's a serious matter, but it's best to try to work it out with them first. --Geniac (talk) 01:22, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Much of this article is a very close paraphrase of the library's web site. Although it is sometimes difficult to present purely routine factual material in a significantly different way, , the wording here is too highly parallel.
You must avoid Close paraphrase. I noticed in particular the sections on environment, and the bookbot, but other parts re also problematic. When using a source it is necessary to change not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas.
I understand that this article is part of a class project, Please ask the instructor to review this matter, since the instructor is expected to supervise the academic integrity of the course's work.
It would probably be a good idea to check your group's other articles as well for this problem. DGG ( talk ) 02:33, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
