In reguards to your comment on the vectorisation of the logo, I have changed the tag on the image so it is represented in a more appropriate way. I was using to origional tag because I had not found one I thought was appropriate

Werdnabot on Graphicslab
FYI, I believe Werdnabot is non-functioning at this point. I know there's a couple other bots that are, though, Mizra has one, I think. I can't recall it's name, though. --badlydrawnjeff talk 17:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Graphics Lab Announcement
Attention All Wikigraphists!
A new Wikigraphist Abilities Page has been created within the Graphics Lab so graphists can specify their graphics skills. To add your entry to the page, simply go the template documentation page and follow the instructions there. If you have any trouble please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Have Fun !
Graphics Lab Announcement
Attention All Wikigraphists!
As you may or may have not noticed, the Graphics Lab pages have gone under a massive cleanup by User:DTR, User:Rugby471 and various others (sorry if I missed you out). Some of the things that have happened are.
- All pages in the Graphics Lab have had, where sensible, templates, substituting elements. For example, the main Lab page was a large chunk of around 100 lines of pure code. It was not very easy to edit the main page, so the various sections of it (eg links, welcome) have been separated. Therefore the main page is now only around 20 lines of user friendly text. If you wish to edit the main page, you must look on the main page for the correct template to edit. (Fore example if I wanted to edit the links section, I would go to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/links and edit the text there). This has been done to all of the pages, in an attempt to make them more user-friendly.
- As you were notified of early, the Wikigraphist Abilities page has been set up and has been beginning to get populated. If you haven't already setup your own entry, you are advised to go and do so now.
- Due to a comment from User:DTR. A template for Graphics Lab announcements has been created. It is at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/announcement. If you ever need to issue a message to Wikigraphists, please use this template in the form
{{Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/announcement|message ~~~~}}
Where message is the announcement you wish to issue.
- On the Images to Improve Page, an issue was noticed where that when requests were completed, people were adding {{Did}} but forgetting to add <!--werdnabot-archive--> so that the request would be archived. Therefore a template has been created (yes another one!) to help with this. When a user creates a new request instead of putting the usual code, they shall put
{{Request Title|title=Lorem Ipsum|done=false}}. Now when a request is completed, all you will have to do is change done to true
done=true
and the template will add the {{did}} template and also <!--werdnabot-archive--> to the title, so it will get archived.
As always, if you experience any issues with the new changes, or are just a bit confused, please don't hesitate to contact me or DTR on our talk pages.

Connecting objects to inkscape path - not yet possible
- Is there some way that I can link objects to a path so that I can change the path and have the objects follow it? I've made an SVG to demonstrate what I mean (in this example, I had to move the objects manually to match the path). This would be a very tedious method for my actual intention which is to be able to bend the DNA strands around (in the SVGs above, all the components are completely unconnected). --Seans Potato Business 20:32, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1198962735.svg
- As far as I know, there's no way to do exactly that for objects - you can do it for text with Text -> Put on Path but that's probably not very helpful. The next closest things I can think of are the "Align and Distribute" and "Grid Arrange" options at the bottom of the Object menu. Not sure if that's any help, but let me know if you do find what you were looking for. Time3000 (talk) 18:13, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's something we might get in 0.46 - they're calling them "markers"? Don't know if it'd actually be of any use for what I'm trying to do. When is 0.46 due? --Seans Potato Business 22:25, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- It could work, but it looks like it's aligning just the centre of the object - I'm not sur if that's what you want? I don't know when 0.46 is due out, but you could always download the development version and and give it a go. Time3000 (talk) 10:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Inkscape 0.45 crashes often enough for me, so I think I'll give 0.46 a miss for now. :::::Aligning objects along a Bezier curve is a sort of work around but changing the path wont change the flow of the pattern based upon it. --Seans Potato Business 11:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Help with an SVG
This image: Image:Omphalea distribution Madagascar.svg has a black square in it. How do I remove it? In inkscape I don't see it... Thanks in advance. Removing the square yourself would be good, but even better would be to tell me how to avoid it happening again. Pro bug catcher (talk • contribs). 01:03, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
It looks like when you create a text area in inkscape by clicking and dragging, inkscape puts a "flowRoot" bit in the SVG it creates to say that the text should occupy this particular area. It then writes this to the output file, but gives the SVG version as 1.0 or 1.1 - despite the fact that "flowRoot" is only supported in SVG 1.2. I've fixed the map just by getting rid of the "flowRoot" bit (since it isn't actually needed) but to avoid it in future it's probably best to create text by clicking but not dragging. Hope that helps! Time3000 (talk) 15:29, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, it does. If it's not too hard to explain, how did you get rid of the "flowRoot"?Pro bug catcher (talk • contribs). 19:46, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- SVG files are just normal text, so you can open it in a text editor (e.g. notepad), search for "flowRoot", delete that part of the file and resave it. In case you're interested, the stuff I deleted was:
<flowRoot xml:space="preserve" id="flowRoot5151"><flowRegion id="flowRegion5153"><rect id="rect5155" width="129.52155" height="39.456898" x="497.5" y="1251.4698" /></flowRegion><flowPara id="flowPara5157" /></flowRoot>

- Great thank you very much! Pro bug catcher (talk • contribs). 01:08, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- I got irked enough at inkscape to hand-code my SVGs, so... yeah. FT2 (Talk | email) 04:07, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Torrey Canyon
Your edit for NPOV is puzzling. Do you think there's a WP:R source to the effect that the bombing of the vessel was a well-conceived and executed operation? The BBC ref certainly says the Cornwall emergency planners don't think it was in hindsite.LeadSongDog (talk) 18:44, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- To be honest, the edit was just on general principles that "botched" is not NPOV - I would prefer something like "badly executed". If you think "botched" is better though, feel free to revert it. Time3000 (talk) 20:57, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
