Speedy deletion nomination of Escoteiro da pátria
[edit]Hello Tiggger Scout,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Escoteiro da pátria for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, União dos Escoteiros do Brasil.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Xx236 (talk) 09:23, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Escoteiro da pátria. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Unsuitable articles, and advice on editing
[edit]There were several reasons why the article of which you created two copies was not suitable for Wikipedia. The most serious one was that it was copied, with translation, from another source in violation of copyright. That is not acceptable, and so the article has been deleted. Other problems were that the article did not give enough context to make it clear what it was about, the fact that it was somewhat promotional in tone, and the fact that it did not provide any evidence that its subject satisfies Wikiepdia's notability guidelines.
My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start.
