Hello Tide rolls.
Hello the only reason I edited that section was because when it comes to musical notes the post is false. I thought It was okay to edit something Wikipedia does allow people to make Edits right, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.254.161 (talk) 01:06, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- You thought correctly; you were allowed to make your edit. And your edit removed cited content. Is hould've noted your edit summary, though. If you have a source (see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources) that refute the content you removed, then state the facts you found and cite them (see WP:Citation templates). Hello again Tide rolls
I wasn't aware you had to do all that to edit a page with Reference. Couldn't I just replace it with other referenced material — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.254.161 (talk) 01:26, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- I believe that is what I said. Did you read the pages linked in my message above? Tiderolls 01:29, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh ok
Well give me a chance to add the reference material. I have no idea why you change it back so fast — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.254.161 (talk) 01:43, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Malaysian TV
This is my second beg to unlock all Malaysian articles TV1 (Malaysia) TV2 (Malaysia) TV3 (Malaysia) ntv7 Television in Malaysia Radio Televisyen Malaysia. I hate the "continuos temporary lock".--125.25.208.9 (talk) 11:10, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- The articles to which you refer have been the targets for continuous disruptive editing. It may be possible that the disruption will cease and the articles could remain unprotected in the future. Based on past experience I find that possibility highly unlikely. In the meantime, you can add edit requests to the talk pages of the articles by using the template found at Template:Edit semi-protected. You could also register an account and, after the account meets the criteria for auto-confimation, edit the articles which are semi-protected. I see that you are adding content that is not supported by sources and have been reverted in many instances. You may find it helpful to acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines before continuing. Regards Tiderolls 03:39, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)I keep an eye on a lot of those articles (I add to my list as I find them) because I started following the edits when the ip(s) who hits them hit a film article I watch (which gets hit in every round along with several Malay TV articles). I'm waiting for another round or two of the overlinking, poor english IP (likely a sock of Albert20009) to around to confirm this, but I believe there is a semi-consistent pattern to the timing. Not positive; in school I had a really good eye for number patterns but I'm out of practice so my instincts may be off. But since I know you've dealt with this problem in the past, Tide, I'd planned on letting you know if I found anything conclusive.
- Also, the IP in question (the potential sock) has started changing up the IPs they edit under. He/she still frequently turns up under the 125.162 range but he's also started turning up under a different range (can't recall specifically). Final Destination 3 is a pretty good article to keep an eye out for him on; he doesn't always hit it when he comes in but nearly every time. Millahnna (talk) 03:52, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, Millahnna. I do appreciate the help that you (and others) have provided by watching those articles. I actually had taken those articles off my watchlist, but the interest shown by this current set of dynamic IPs has convinced me to re-add them. I will certainly be approaching the admins that watch the RFP page if our friend should reappear. If you see the problems first and take care of the situation, then I say "good job". It is entirely possible that those individuals will become bored and leave the articles alone. I hope that is the case, anyway. See ya 'round Tiderolls 04:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

So many folks expressed their confidence at my RfA and I felt they deserved more than I was capable of providing. I'll content myself with my fake editing and hope that I can, at least, prove helpful as a vandalism scrubber :) Roll Tide Tiderolls 04:05, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

- Hi, Bobby...thanks for coming here to discuss the situation. You're slightly missing the point, which is understandable as you are new. "Actual fact" and "reliably sourced, notable content" are separate, but not mutually exclusive, concepts on Wikipedia. If you read WP:Notability and WP:Identifying reliable sources you will have a better grasp of what I'm attempting to communicate. Also, editors are not allowed to use their personal experience, observation or work (blogs, videos, books, print articles, etc) to support their edits. To do so constitutes original research, and Wikipedia relies on secondary sources (mainly) to support its content. I'll be happy to go into furhter detail or provide more information if need be. Also, please type four tildes (~) at the end of your posts to afix your signature. Regards Tiderolls 08:05, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

- Watching the video is not necessary because I believe you. My belief is irrelevant, however. Without independant, secondary sourcing and some rationale of notability, the content cannot be added. You can also seek the advice of other editors by posting a message on the article's talk page. Frank Zappa is a featured article, so I'm sure the talk page is quite active. Nominating Patrick Eakins for deletion
Hi,
Thanks for nominating Patrick Eakins for deletion. This has been deleted, but for a different reason than the one you nominated it for. The article was defamatory against the article subject, and as such should have been categorised as WP:CSD#G10, as an attack page. It is very important that the correct categories are used, as attack pages/negative BLPs are considered top priority and are usually deleted in minutes. Non-notable articles can hang around for several hours as admins wade through the (usually) lengthy list of nominated articles.
If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page.
Thanks, Stephen! Coming... 09:24, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

- Bobby, I was wrong about the Frank Zappa discussion page; it appears that it is not very active. The article is rated as top importance for Wikipedia's Rock Music Project. There seems to be more activity there; you can get to that page by clicking here. I'm at work so I'm just giving you a suggestion for a place to start. Hi. I saw your request for long-term semi-protection of this and other articles, but I'm a bit confused because a quick check of the various IP addresses' talk pages didn't seem to indicate that the user had ever been warned about his/her misbehaviour. I put a warning just now on User talk:180.251.2.245, advising him/her of the editing guideline about (not) wikilinking dates. If you believe this has already been tried and I must have missed it, I'd be grateful if you could send me more details. Richwales (talk) 03:53, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I certainly understand your desire to follow accepted convention. However, if you followed the link provided in the request you would've seen that contacting the IPs in the past produce zero response. I have come to a point where my assumption of good faith with regard to this situation is exhausted. It would be a good thing if you succeed in extracting some dialogue from this individual. See ya 'round Tiderolls 04:01, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Apologies, Rich. It's late here and I just realized you requested some indication that communication had been attempted. This would be difficult as the IPs in question change with every instance and had come from the 125 range previously. As my initial acquaintance with this situation occured nealy a year ago it would very difficult for me to go back through my contributions and locate the attempts I made to contact the IPs. If you check the hatted section in the link on the RFPP you will see that the user changes IPs often. If you require the diffs for my attempts at contact I will, of course, go into my contribs and search. Thanks Tiderolls 04:20, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. No need to go do that now. I'll take another look at all this later, when I have more time. I'll also keep an eye on this article and some of the others. Richwales (talk) 04:30, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Tiderolls 04:32, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

- I've semi'd this article and some of the others on the list. I've halted for now because a) he's stopped for now and b) I'd like to see if we can get a range of IPs, perhaps for a range block. I hate to protect articles that have only had a few small edits since they were protected at the end of March, but I have zero tolerance for this kind of crap. I'd even be willing to block the guy after one more warning to whatever IP he's using next. He knows what he's doing and that we don't like it, and that's enough for me. I'm healthy to the point where I can be an active admin again, so feel free to let me know when he resumes the insanity. :-) KrakatoaKatie 05:00, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I completely understand your hesitation regarding protecting articles with no apparent need. Bringing the articles to RFPP as problems occur presents me with no problem whatsoever. I have been watching these articles for some time and my outlook for a happy future for them is definitely jaded. There are a few editors (see one of the sections above) watching these pages, but fresh eyes are very welcome. Thanks for all your help. - Yes, indeedy. I recall great brouhahas regarding custom sigs, userboxes and barnstars in my early days here (and I'm sure the brouhahas I witnessed were not the first surrounding these practices as I am relatively new). Mostly involving the same arguments pro and con: building an encyclopedia vs encouraging collegial atmosphere and uplifting morale. It always came down to a final point. Either we totally divest the project of every speck of non-constructive contribution (think about the enormity of that task), or we put up with an occasional bit of non-conventional interaction in the interest of "we have more important matters to worry about". I can sympathize with both positions. I also have a custom sig...and four userboxes...and a menagerie of barnstars (which I modestly collapse on my user page so the purists don't burst an aneurysm). Another cathartic reflex has occurred...now, we have more important matters to worry about...don't we? :) See ya 'round Tiderolls 00:37, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Every time a vandal is allowed to edit after being reported to AIV, God kills a kitten
I know what the answer is, but I miss your absolute first-rate ability to cover WP:AIV which has been spotty lately, to say the least. Edits to Green Mountain College
Hello there,
You just reverted my changes to the page Green Mountain College and called them vandalism. I am not sure why, all I was doing was updating the majors and minors and adding a section for student clubs. I attend the school and I even cited reliable sources (the school's website and online academic catalog). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.158.108.234 (talk) 00:29, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. Check the diffs and you will see that what you claim is not exactly accurate. You may have been editing in good faith and I will certainly apologize if that is the case. And please sign your posts with the four tildes. Thanks Tiderolls 00:33, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
I looked at the revisions and now realize that only the first word of each title should be capitalized, but what is wrong with the information under education about majors and minors? Also, I am not sure what the four tildes means, but I have now created and logged onto an account to avoid any confusion concerning the school IP address. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Itoldheriwasfreaky (talk • contribs) 00:51, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

irlen syndrome
Irlen Syndrome is a condition which impacts on some people quite severely. In the article there was an unreferenced statement that major medical bodies in the USA do not believe people really suffer those symptoms. Do you not feel this is potentially very hurtful to a lot of people with this condition? I removed it because I reckon if someone is going to make such an assertion they should back it up with sources, and not just make a bald statement and leave it at that. The person who put that hurtful comment in, clearly doesn't understand the condition, and has mistaken a dispute over the pathology (cause and behaviour) with whether it actually exists. Sources supporting that the dispute is over pathology and not existence of the condition are referenced in the same article and so support what I am saying. I also took out another short paragraph because it seemed to be accusing people of being snakeoil salespeople with again no evidence. It was just a rant. I think my edits were fair, and I ask you to reconsider. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.92.47 (talk) 22:26, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for your polite message. Let me say first that I do not think I have edited the article to which you are referring. I would also agree, after a very cursory look, with your assessment of the circumstances. To be fair, I would invite other editors to comment of course.
