[edit]

Hi. My old account, User talk:DragonDance and IP User talk:52.124.92.11 were blocked (justifiably) two weeks ago for recently making and using alternate accounts(User talk:Nordicthrash420). I logged out of that account after first getting blocked and upon trying to log back in a few days ago (as DragonDance), it appears that my password has been changed and I see no option to recover it. I intended to eventually appeal the block and continue editing positively with the DragonDance account (my recent contributions for both accounts and the IP were mostly fixing motorsport articles), but it appears I've lost it.

@NinjaRobotPirate: as the blocking admin I'd like to bring this to your attention. My IP was blocked for only a month, and though I don't want to assume this means I'm being given a "second chance," should I bother with any attempt to recover DragonDance (an account I used off and on for over 10 years) or just start anew with this one after the IP block is lifted?Thrash92Dragon (talk) 00:10, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further review it appears DragonDance was "globally locked." and have learned where to appeal that.Thrash92Dragon (talk) 01:00, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

  • You seem to misunderstand how Wikipedia works. First of all, you were blocked for creating sock puppets, not for "alternate accounts". There's a pretty big differences, because alternate accounts are allowed, within certain rules. Creating sock puppets to edit disruptively and evade the consequences is not. You are not being given any second chances. The way for you to come back is through appealing your block. Since your original account was globally locked for cross-wiki abuse, you will need to contact a steward. In your case, you may need to use email to contact them. For the sake of bluntness: you are not allowed to edit Wikipedia. Any accounts you create, even if you intend to make constructive edits, will be blocked. This goes for editing as an IP, too. I'd prefer not to chase another person over Wikipedia and perform constant range blocks, so just contact a steward and ask them to unlock your account. It will make life easier for all of us.
