CSD correction
Hello, could you inform me what the correct CSD category for nominating an empty article created by a plain vandalistic account would be? (Regarding Draft:Brian Leo Dang.) I was hoping to have to go through a standard AfD. CMD (talk) 02:36, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
- The simple answer is, there isn't a correct CSD category for that! XfD is the current correct approach.
- In this case I'm not just being bureaucratic for the sake of it - honestly :) The block on the IP notes that it is likely that of a school. It's likely that the student whose behavior resulted in the block is not the same one who started a draft in good faith. If that good-faith student goes home, creates an account, and wants to keep working on their draft, I think it's reasonable that it should still be there for them. If that never happens, no harm done.

- I'm not concerned you're being bureaucratic! Simply asking if there is a good way to do it. My actual concern is that given the amount of vandalism coming out of that account, the article is possibly not intended to be a good faith article draft, but something about a classmate/teacher/etc. I have seen such issues emerge on school pages before. File:BBC Three logo.svg and File:BBC Earth logo.png
Hi Thparkth. I saw you removed the {{db-f8}} templates from File:BBC Three logo.svg and File:BBC Earth logo.png. That's fine, but these seem similar to File:BBC First.png discussed at WT:FFD#Usage of BBC First logo. I think it might be best to discuss these on FFD to make sure. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:56, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- Just for reference, both files were converted to {{PD-USonly}} by another editor. The threshold of originality for the US is lower than it is for the UK, so I don't this should be an issue. As for the Commons files, I've asked about them at c:COM:VP/C#File:BBC Three logo.svg and File:BBC Earth logo.png. If the consensus on Commons turns out to be that the licensing for those files is OK, then the local ones here on Wikipedia should probably be deleted. -- 02:34, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- PD-USonly is probably correct for BBC Three but I suspect the BBC Earth logo with its gradient background may be arguable. Anyway, my concern is that the images are 99% certain to be considered copyrightable in the UK, and thus are properly ineligble for upload to Commons which requires not only that they be freely usable in the US but also in the country of origin. Anyway having made that point I'll back away from this issue :) Thparkth (talk) 03:17, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments. Just for the record, I just want to get the licensing right regardless of whatever that turns out to be. So, please feel free to comment at the Commons discussion if you feel necessary. It's best to get multiple opinions either way so that any doubts are removed. It's quite possible that the consensus will be that c:COM:PCP should be applied with respect to these files, which is also fine with me. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:12, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
