Thomas L. Eytcheson

[edit]
  Born to Raymond Richard And Mary Sandra Sutton Eytcheson on the 11th day of June 1968.

Born weighing 4lb 3oz, Sick little kid, required blood transfusion and dual Hernia sugery within the first week.

I was born at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria Il. I spent my childhood in the greater Peoria, Illinois area.

A happy child, but my favorite hobby was being incredibly destructive. I was know to be a human battering ram, pounding his head against a perfectly good crib util he collapsed and destroyed it. This destruction has followed me for life in different ways. As a boy, typical curious and endless energy, I rebuilt bikes that were in garbage cans rather than ask fora new bike, he enjoyed tinkering as well as watching, learningandgetting into the projects with his mentor and father Ray. Dad enjoys working on cars, building furniture and remodeling the house(room by room)

I am married to an AWSOME friend of mine, her name is Dawn. We have 3 kids

== Early Years ==

My first "project" was building a 3 legged table. This table was plywood and the legs were 2x4. Legend is that the table had over 100 nails in it, though they were primarily bent and pounded into the wood, the table stood level!

Then I turned my attention to old cars. Dad gave me a ford flathead engine to disassemble, just to see what is inside at 4 yrs old. He wassoo dirty fromthe engine grease, he had to strip naked outside the back door to go inside and clean up, remember this is just a 4 year old.

I have an Older Sister Kim & an older Brother Tim

As time went on, the car work got more intense, holding the shoplight so dad could see what he was working on. Toms stature was so small and wirey he could usually be found inside the engine compartment sitting on a fender well or an air cleaner. Dad and I worked on many a car, from Opal GTs to old Volvos. Toyots (the early square box cars) and volvos that looked like large VW. I usually got to steel wool the hubcaps back to a shine, then paint the center logo of the Volvo with model paint.

Later years

[edit]

At 14-17 I got more involved in the garage, not just engines but also learning autobody work on

-'68 Chevy utility truck

-'71 Chevy C15 fleetside

All 3 for a small construction company my grandmother and her husband ran part time.

My Favorite projects

The sad thing about old Toyotas is that they were designed to disintegrate. Every panel was rusting or rusted away so I now started learning how to use fiberglass and Bondo. When finished, the truck was painted Porsche red. The completion coinsided closly with 16th birthday a little heavy persueding via begging andnot so subtle hints that I wanted that truck after all the work we both the Toyota became My first vehicle. This is the first of at last count 40 cars over the years. In between learning the tune ups, oil changes and replacing spark plugs and wires. I started out as a laborer pickingup messes I also invetorying tools as we closed the jobsite for the day trying to learn as much as possible. and inv put intoit up messes, graduating to holding sheetrock in the air for cieling replacments (before the day of drywall jacks.)Roofing and learning the fundamentals of mixing Sakreet foundation pads and more.
