Your fine edit, plus some more info
[edit]Thank you for your fine edit here.
However, I do not think it goes far enough in correcting the intro. For example, the intro explicitly contradicts noted historian Bernard Lewis. Lewis maintains: The very concept of a Palestinian nation was unknown to the Arabs at the time (i.e., the Arabs of Ottoman Palestine prior to the British Mandate) and did not come into being until very much later. Even the concept of Arab nationalism in the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire, "had not reached significant proportions before the outbreak of World War I."[1]
Additionally, you can read in this section that the source for the intro text is taken out of context. And, here for more background. Best regards, welcome to WP and happy editing! Doright (talk) 02:00, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Reliable sources
[edit]Before you try adding any more sources, PLEASE go and read WP:SOURCES and pay attention to the first line. Blogs, community websites like Indymedia and suchlike are not reliable sources. -- ChrisO (talk) 19:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Merhan
[edit]Hi, Thomas.
Please see Talk:Ouze Merham#Yael Shahar take two for a discussion about those sources. As you can tell from the AfD. I too am of the belief the article should be kept, but everything in the article must comply with our policies and guidelines. I'd be glad to continue the discussion with you at the talk page link above. Thank you for your participation! -- Avi (talk) 19:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Omer Bartov
[edit]A tag has been placed on Omer Bartov requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Me what do u want? Hi Thomas, regarding your revert here, I wanted to call your attention to WP:BLP which addresses the addition of contentious material to a biography of a living person. To arrive and revert material that has already been removed without comment in this context can be particularly problematic. Per WP:BLP, I'm going to undo these additions, but if you think material should be added please join the discussion on the talk page. Regards, Mackan79 (talk) 01:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Pleas do not accuse peopoe of things they did not do. I read the LA Times yesterday, am familiar with Khalidi's work and posted this information. I will now go to th talk page.Thomas Babbington (talk) 15:55, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Thomas Babbingotn
- Are you saying it's a coincidence you added the same material that was removed? In any case, it wasn't an accusation, but letting you know why I removed the material and the concerns involved. Thanks, Mackan79 (talk) 16:07, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
