Regarding false accusations on my talk page

Please refrain from vandalizing my talk page with borderline slanderous remarks as you did here. While some of your concerns are legitimate, the vast majority are untrue and unkind. Please make stronger attempts at verifying sources. Thank you. Morthanley (talk) 00:16, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

The only item I added was the joke1 template. My edit also shifted previous warnings into the same section, per the recommended formatting for such warnings; but I only added joke1. It was added because of this edit, which added a number of absurd examples and declared my removal of them as vandalism. As you may be aware, these absurd examples have been an ongoing problem with this article for awhile now. More recently, anons have been using edit summaries which sound like they are on the "good" side of removing such examples; whereas they are actually adding them back in. From your edit alone, I had assumed you were an anon which registered an account as the next step to tricking us. After posting the joke1 warning, I looked through your contributions and found that you are relatively established, but I still fell short as to the reason for your revert. I am not sure what exactly the cause of this was, but if it was mere confusion: I apologise for any misunderstanding, but ask that you please take more care in what you revert as vandalism. Conte Biancamano

Thanks for restoring the info in the template, after making that edit last night I discoverd the source and tried to restore it myself, but for some weird reason the software kept inserting a carriage return after every comma or semicolon, which is something I've never encountered before.

Thanks! WP:CAIN explains it perfectly (#5 cracks me up), but I am nonetheless a tad slighted when a user blanks the warnings but continues to do the same act which earned the warnings in the first place. The article protection ought to help things out for awhile -- this sort of thing happens periodically but fortunately doesn't seem to be a continuous issue, so the protection should help reset some calm. You are a bit of a nuisance. I am trying to share images that I have created with the public under the creative commons license and you have systematically gone through each one adding a potential copyright infringement notice.

Not only does such inconsiderate and baseless actions cause me much greater work in sharing these images, it also prevents the public from enjoying them as I shall be reluctant in future to post more if it means having to undertake this extra work.

You have no reason whatsoever to presume that there is any copyright infringement on those images. Not only do I own the original manuscripts, created the images and prepared them for the public, I also own the original site from which they are taken (www.adamshamilton.com). As a lawyer, I am fully aware of the distinct lack of copyright infringement issues relating to that material and I suggest you consider reading into why there is certainly no copyright infringement in such circumstances. The work I am putting inot sharing these images is being made very difficult by your interference. I have had to post further explanations and email Wikipedia as a result of your actions.

No problem at all. Also, let me know if this extends over to the article as well, I will add the protection there. In the case of page protection, the article page and the talk page are separate entities. Each one can be given its own protection without affecting the others. Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania

Hello! I noticed the message you posted in 2006 on the discussion page for Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania (the borough in Westmoreland County). I have taken you up on your challenge - better late than never - to write about the town's history. I hope you like the end result. I am originally from Latrobe, nearby, and I had never heard of the Morehead Massacre. Now I am better informed! However, the events at Morehead actually occurred outside the municipal limits of Mount Pleasant borough, and with that in mind, I limited the coverage of that labor conflict to a sentence.

Southern Hypocrisy

"I think it's a bit rich that we're defining Maryland as "Southern" on this page. That to me seems to be a fairly radical reworking of the demographics, economics, politics, and geography of the region, particularly for an encyclopedia that says it is not a database for "original research."

I for one actually am a Southerner and find this classification to be not only inaccurate but borderline insulting; Maryland shares very little in common with the rest of the South, and I speak from the perspective not of a Texan, Floridian, or South Carolinian, but rather as a Virginian.

This really, really bothers me. From a cultural perspective (rates of church attendance, religious identification, household income, voting tendencies, music, cuisine, etc) it just doesn't make sense."

This coming from someone who uses their own subjective views to state what they believe, yet criticizing others for supposedly doing the same thing. I'm really sick of people using outdated Civil War politics to determine what is "Northern" & "Southern". Sounds like a lot of people need a crash course in 2008.

"Borderline insulted" and such? Good lord, take a chill pill. It isn't that serious. If you knew anything about Maryland, which you obviously don't, you know that it shares many similarities with both the(historic) North & South. I guess in your clearly limited Virginian view of the world, every Southerner is a poor, gun-toting, bible-thumping, Confederate-loving, Republican-voting, country bumpkin with a country accent to boot.

Oh and you lost all credibility when you said you were a Virginian. Southern-like in history(just like Maryland)it is, but is becoming a hybrid, just like Florida(!!), Texas(!!), & everywhere else in the country. In fact, if you wanna get really technical, a strictly defined North & South, etc. doesn't exist anymore. to really segregate the regions of the US in this day in age, it would be urban/suburban vs. exurban/rural. With so much relocating and redefining of boundary lines, how can you possibly say one is "this" and the other is "that"?

The problems are two-fold: writing articles about yourself conflicts with the policies regarding neutral points of view (NPOV) and conflicts of interest (COI). While writing articles against those policies is not expressly prohibited, they are strongly discouraged. When writing such articles, it becomes critically important that the subject meet applicable notability criteria. As it stands, you do not appear to meet the criteria set forth by the Biography WikiProject. Thank you for your response. However, you seem to misunderstand my status. Why are you assuming I wrote the "Gary Ludwig" biographical listing? I am a writer, editor, and owner of publishing, printing, and media relations companies. I DID NOT write the biographical article. An employee of Hodge Podge USA did, which is one of the companies I own. I think my career accomplishmens warrant inclusion as a notable person. Do you think a biographical article, written by a company staff member, should not be listed in Wikipedia because the subject of the bio happens to own the company? That is an absurd bit of logic if it is in fact Wikipedia's policy. After Hodge Podge USA received your criticism, the staff writer removed the brief narrative descriptions of my two novels in hopes of satisfying any accusations of commercialism. Your objections are unfounded. I did not write the article, and it is not commercial in nature. I am a notatable person in the City and County of Lebanon, Pennsylvania communities. I deserve to be listed because of my historical contributions.

I did personally write the biographical listing for Tommy Hinnershitz. I have no idea what your objection is to this article. Could you please explain more fully. I will correct anything inappropriate, etc. I am Hinnershitz's authorized (by the family) biographer.

I can assure you that I will do whatever necessary to comply with Wikipedia policy. I am not very good with computers, please have patience. It is sincerely appreciated.

The issue is not so much with NPOV or COI issues as it is with notability. I agree that sometimes the people who know the most about the subject are those whom are directly affiliated with that very subject. Rather, the articles do not appear to establish notability. Thus I recommend you review the policies set forth by the Biography WikiProject and consider requesting other editors to review the article (perhaps by that link's discussion page so as to attract editors with a particular interest in biographies). --Bossi (talk • gallery • contrib) 02:27, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Admiral Ernesto Burzagli

Hi, I'm Giorgio the italian developer of Montevarchi related edits (in italian wikipedia and here when I can) and I help also the Burzagli family to publish on Wikipedia and Commons the entire archive of Burzagli's. The admiral was born in Modena because his father Vincenzo was professor of phisics at the Royal Military Accademy but his family, and Vincenzo too, are from Montevarchi were the admiral family had, and have, the family house and where, on Moncioni's hills, they own a villa and a farm. In the next days Emiliano Burzagli, Ernesto's grandson, will upload all the materal related to Vincenzo we found recently. In Montevarchi he married Mannozzi Torini Laura but when he married her he was already retired and even his family doesn't know anything about his early life. They thought, before starting our research, that the admiral family was simply from Modena. For many reasons they didn't want to investigate in Ernesto's past. In fact all his archive was buried in various boxes in a cellar for decades. We started opening it just last summer. And only in the past days we found the document demonstrating that the Burzaglis were from Montevarchi. Anyway we found on the admiral papers pictures of a Peruan woman that was writing intensively to him. And some others. Could you share with us the information you have? It's tough to say for sure, as these are family photos and it can be difficult to discern family stories as 100% true or 99% true. The story goes that my great-grandfather's sister, Joséphine Bossi (from around Milano), married an Admiral in the Italian Navy. I'd always heard the name as Admiral "Bordzali", but two generations of Americanisation can contort any name. Burzagli is very similar sounding to Bordzali, hence I suspected that may be the right person; and the timeframe is correct. I understand that we have some items in a museum in the suburbs of Roma which reflect the relationship between the Bossi and Bordzali/Burzagli families -- I hope to return in 2009 to try and track down the info first-hand. If you have any specific questions which may assist you, I could ask my Aunt -- she has been handling issues with the museum and knows more about the relationship between the two families. Interesting. The only link between Bossi and Burzagli that we have now is that a Mr. Bossi was one of the member of the italian delegation at the Second London Naval Conference on 1930 where Burzagli too was present as expert. In that time he was already an admiral. But from now on we will scan attentively all his correspondence, may be we can find something else. But apart of that, in which museum in Rome are preserved those documents you mentioned? And winch kind of documents? We have people (the president of the Association of Italian Sailors, department of Montevarchi, is actually the father-in-law of Burzagli's grandson) that can go there and to obtain a copy of them. And mostly, when exactly was the year of the wedding? We have his official service statement so we are able to track down when and where he was, practically during his entire life.

Because my point his: he could have been married to somebody else before Laura but he had to have been remained widow because otherwise it's impossible to imagine that a person so famous and popular could be a bigamist without anybody, in the civil service or mostly among his adversaries, denouncing it. Bigamy was, and still is, a crime at least in Europe. Even in his official file in the Italian Senate it's not mentioned a previous marriage before that one with Laura. And the fascists, when arrested him, didn't accused him on bigamy but on other political offenses. Mussolini and his puppet-republic tried everything to destroy the Burzagli's reputation when it was clear to anybody that Burzagli was right when he declared to Mussolini that Italy wasn't able to substain a war. How they couldn't know about a previous and still valid wedding?

May be Josephine died on 20's or at the beginning of 30's? We will ask also his two sons, still alive, if they remember when Laura started to date Burzagli and if they know something about their father's past. In fact this first wedding could be one of the cause that moved Laura to bury a biggest part of the Admiral past. Unfortunately Laura died few years ago and, more, knowing so little about him, everything could be possible. If I'm not wrong you have some pictures. Send us them: if the man in the pictures is Burzagli we will open a new chapter in his biography and if the man it's not him we can find anyway who he is (we have people at the National Historic Archive of Italian Navy that can help us).--giorgiomonteforti (talk) 01:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

I am hoping to get a couple more boxes of photos from my aunt over the holidays, but I'm not sure how many photos we have of Admiral Burzagli and Josephine. Ahh yes, I had forgotten to check that discussion page. The family story goes that she married an admiral, but of course: those types of stories can become less truthful with every new generation. Over the holidays, I will see what additional info I can track down. Are you aware of the sources which state she married Carlo rather than Ernesto? The source is the family Burzagli itself. Ernesto had 2 sons, Giancarlo and Leonardo both still alive. Giancarlo was another Navy officer and Leonardo a MD. Now they are retired. They where too young to remember Carlo (Giancarlo was born at the end of 30's and Leonardo on 1946) but their aunt Giuseppina-Josephine remained close to them untill she died on 1982. Giancarlo, as a Navy officer, moved often from base to base but Leonardo always lived in Montevarchi close to Giuseppina. Even Emiliano, Ernesto's grandson, remembers Giuseppina. He was born on 1975. It's Emiliano that now is scanning, uploading and studying the whole Ernesto's archive [3]. We have even a family tree written by Vincenzo, father of Carlo and Ernesto. Hi Bossi, I am currently preparing a flyer for a symposium I will hold for my employing company at a conference in Innsbruck in Summer. I'd very much like to use your photo of the Inn at Innsbruck for the cover of the flyer. We will distribute the flyer to customers and at the conference to invite people to come to our symposium. Aside from the fact that people will have to pay the fee for the conference -of which we receive nothing- the symposium will be free of charge. If you want to make sure we don't advertise something wile with your work, we're in the medical diagnostics business. Absolutely, you're welcome to use the image. Most of my images (including this one) are licensed under cc-by-sa, which is geared toward making such media easy to reuse. The "cc-by-sa" means it's the Creative Commons license, attribution is required, and the image must be shared under the same license (that means that your flyer can still be copyrighted, but the image itself retains the cc-by-sa license). So really the only thing needed to comply with that, tucked away in a caption, endnote, footnote, etc. is: "cc-by-sa, Andrew Bossi". How do you learn so many languages?

My goal is that to every country I travel to, within the first week I've stopped using my phrasebook; by the end of the second week, I'm able to engage in basic conversation; and then by the third week I have become pretty adept at reading & general conversation. I learn by immersing myself in the country. The key is to not have a crutch... don't hang out with people who speak English naturally; rather, always try to converse in the local language first before, if necessary, using English.
