Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Thewhipsofficial, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Thewhipsofficial/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page or you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:26, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Thewhipsofficial/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 17:03, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Should've read the full guidelines. Block resulted in ignorance. Since learning rules and regulations of the site, I inted to make meaningful contributions only.

Decline reason:

Great. Please demonstrate your understanding of the relevant guidelines by telling us how you violated them and what edits you intend to make. 331dot (talk) 20:50, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Yea absolutely. Unfortunately, I've been having issues claiming a knowledge panel. With further research, I found to be in need of a Wikipedia page. Without thoroughly reading through the guidelines, I violated the G11 code for Unambiguous Advertising and Promotion. After taking time to analyze these strict guidelines I understand articles based around business need to be from a neutral point of view. By any means, I hope you understand my intentions weren't meant to directly exploit the platform, but to add a funny deep cut in this specific situation. With the ban lifted I will make sure to contact customer service if I have questions before publishing edits!

Decline reason:

You've been blocked. We do expect you to thoroughly read through the policies and guidelines now, at least the ones you violated. You are also deeply confused; we don't have customer service here. You seem to think Wikipedia is something very different from what it actually is. See WP:NOT. Yamla (talk) 10:28, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Someone else will review your request, but a few things here;
  1. Wikipedia has articles, not mere "pages". This is a subtle but important distinction.
  2. Wikipedia does not have "customer service" as this is not a business. This is a project to write an encyclopedia of human knowledge, maintained by volunteer editors from around the world. See the Five Pillars.
  3. To be frank, Wikipedia has no interest in enhancing search results for you, in your Google knowledge panel, or in your internet presence. The existence of a Wikipedia article about you would solely depend on if you receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources, showing how you meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician or band. Any article about you would summarize those sources. It would not necessarily say what you or your band might want it to say, and you could not have exclusive control of it. Wikipedia is not a place for people or bands to tell the world about themselves; we are interested in what others say about them, not what they want to say about themselves. This is usually very difficult for people to do about themselves. Any other benefit to you from the existence of an article about you is on the side, and not our primary goal. 331dot (talk) 09:43, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You may wish to read about how having an article is not necessarily a good thing. 331dot (talk) 09:45, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
