Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Thesongfan. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Chris Janson, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 15:31, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ANI

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Why do you keep removing the section on the Holly Williams album, anyway? Please do not remove sourced content without an explanation, and don't call other users stalkers. Your edits

[edit]

It's perfectly normal to include collaborations with other artists within a biography. I would think in particular that recording two duets before you have any solo material out is an interesting fact well worth including in the article.

Also, what part of the information on his marriage and children is incorrect? Do you have any secondary sources that say otherwise (i.e., reliable websites or publications, not word of mouth or personal knowledge)? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 01:06, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have blocked you again for continuing the same behaviour that resulted in the prior blocks. This time for 2 weeks. If you continue when this block is expired the next block will be indefinite. Please read WP:NOTHERE and WP:COI. Chillum 17:03, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mediabase

[edit]

The table at the bottom of the page should only reflect the Billboard positions, since those are the only consistently verifiable positions, and it provides uniformity across all articles. Mentioning within the text of the article proper that the song also hit #1 on Mediabase is fine, so long as there is a source indicating the difference from Billboard, which I have done. Just letting you know this. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 00:59, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
