License tagging for Image:James.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:James.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:06, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the image. However, you should either edit the Wikimedia Commons page to reflect that you believe that the image lies under the fair use clause for images on WP, or seek permission from the rights holder. In this case it's the school, so just get someone in the office or the Senior Master to send an email releasing permission for use. Ideally, borrow someone's digicam and take a photograph yourself! Thanks. Hornplease 21:12, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
actually the picture was taken by a friend and then put on the cover of the school diary.I have taken the permission of the friend so there should not be any problems.Theone 666 05:36, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying! However, legal issues determine that your friend must license it under a free license or release it into the public domain. In other words, edit the upload to reflect his consent, once you obtain it. If you can do it soon, it will be saved from the deletion that I fear otherwise awaits it. Thanks! File source problem with File:James.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:James.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:36, 4 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 03:36, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
