[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at You're Next. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism. This includes not only the one edit that you have succeeded in making with this account, but also your failed attempts at editing which were blocked by edit filters, and the edits you have made without being logged into this account. - James before you accuse someone of vandalism you should perhaps actually read the edit to determine if it is valid. My edit was a correction not an attempt at vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thebozz411 (talk • contribs) 03:26, 9 September 2013
- First you changed "wolf" to "tiger", and then you made repeated attempts to change both "wolf" and "tiger" to "fox", but were prevented from doing so by an edit filter: perhaps you can understand why this looked like vandalism, as it is difficult to imagine that both those changes were valid. If it wasn't vandalism, then the best thing to do is to explain, politely, why it wasn't. I will be very grateful if you can do that, to help me understand what you were doing. If you re-read my comment above, you will see that I didn't "accuse" anyone of vandalism, I just said that your editing appeared to be vandalism, which it certainly did. The reason for using that wording was precisely to give you a chance to explain the reason for your editing if it wasn't vandalism. A piece of advice for the future: when you make an edit to any page on Wikipedia, fill in a few words explaining what you are doing in the little box labelled "Edit summary", so that other editors can see the point of your edits. If you need any more help in learning how things work on Wikipedia, please feel welcome to drop me a polite note on my talk page, and I will help you if I can. First of all I made a mistake of changing it to tiger instead of fox because there was no wolf in the movie. I went back and tried to correct it and it wouldn't let me so I used my computer. After I was done everything was correct and perfect however you saw fit to not even bother reading what was changed and turned around and reverted it back to the old way and sent me a nasty message which regardless of how you worded it was basically accusing me of vandalism. As an admin I would expect you'd have at least some knowledge of the subject matter before you just jump in an automatically assume what I changed was incorrect. Had you seen the movie you'd have known that there was no wolf mask in it. If you were not sure then you should have asked another admin to review it. Bottom line is you need to stop being so quick to throw around your "admin" status and actually read the content you're so quick to assume is wrong. Oh and I would also suggest you stop throwing around how we are all suppose to address you politely when you yourself are quite rude and very impolite. Have a nice day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thebozz41 (talk • contribs) 22:49, 9 September 2013
- That message starts "First of all I made a mistake", but you seem to make no allowance for another editor who you believe made a mistake. I fully accept that you did not intend to vandalise, but you seem to be unable to accept that your editing looked exactly like vandalism. It would be really good if it were possible to treat every apparent example of trivial vandalism as cautiously as you suggest, including checking with another editor before making any change, but unfortunately it isn't: the amount of vandalism that takes place prohibits that approach. I did, however, post a message here, telling you that your editing appeared to be vandalism, so that you could put that right if it wasn't. I have no idea what makes you think that I did "not even bother reading what was changed": I certainly did. There is no "throwing around" of admin status: everything that I have done in relation to your editing I have done as a Wikipedia editor, and all of it could have been done by any editor, without needing to be an administrator. I am sorry that you regard my messages as "quite rude and very impolite", which they weren't intended to be. In its context, your remark "Have a nice day" could be seen as sarcasm, so, assuming you didn't mean it that way, you may like to think carefully about what wording to sue in the future, to avoid giving a misleading impression. I am sorry that your introduction to editing Wikipedia has been so unencouraging, and I hope it won't put you off continuing to contribute. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:00, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Needed information
[edit]Welcome to wikipedia! When making a complaint about an admin, it helps if you describe what he did. If you go to the page in question, go to edit history, select before and after for his edits, and copy the text from the navigation bar that would be ideal. If this is difficult, link to the page directly. Thanks!!♥ L'Origine du monde ♥ (♥ Talk♥ ) 06:16, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
