Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:GoForGin.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 12:58, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Archive

Hello. I fixed your archive box. It said Archive quatro instead of Archive cuatro. Feel free to rv if you meant to do that. Happy editing! --Boricuaeddie hábleme 16:24, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Userpage

Just saw your userpage on WP:DOF Userpage contest. Very nice! I like it a lot. Mine isn't so wonderful. Well, it's good, but only in Firefox in a certain resolution x) I've got someone to help me with that, though, thank God. Hehehe. Anyway, thought I'd just compliment you on a job well done. =D --Theunicyclegirl talk 00:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Eh, maybe, but I think I'd have to make it more compatible before they'd accept it and I'm too lazy. =D So... what do you like to do on Wiki? --Theunicyclegirl talk 00:23, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
You don't notice a difference? In IE all of the divs are pushed over... at least on mine... I like reverting vandalism (bow down to Lupin's filter), patrolling new pages, and I've suddenly become interested in bringing stubs to... non-stubbiness. Particularly dog and cat breed articles. I've done Miniature Bull Terrier, Porcelaine, and York Chocolate Cat in the past few days. --Theunicyclegirl talk 00:33, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Surrealism

I like the new sig. Kinda surreal :P Giggy UCP 22:09, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

By the way, just pointing this out since I really would like to get this all done well before I leave (see the countdown on my userpage). So if you're still nomming...do it asap :P Giggy UCP 01:28, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Except you're on holidays :( We'll have to go without you, sorry! Giggy UCP 02:27, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

GFDL violation on user page

Hi! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but due to license restrictions, you may not use Image:Looking Up at Empire State Building.JPG as part of a {{click}}able link on your user page. Please find an appropriate free-image alternative, or consider forgoing a clickable image in favor of a text-only link. Thanks! Jouster  (whisper) 19:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD attention request

Not sure if this is out of order, but there's a somewhat contentions AfD (here) that has received little outside attention. Since the AfD was initiated, a number of single purpose accounts (likely sockpuppets) have started editing (and discussing on the talk page) the article; not !voting, fortunately. In any case, I wanted to see if some AfD regulars could stop by and weigh in. I'm not looking to sway !votes here—I haven't targeted deletionists; I'm asking editors that seem to !vote a lot on music-related AfDs. No reply is necessary but your opinion is valued. Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

Thank you!

Thank you

Thank you for your support at my recent Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Angus Lepper RfA, which failed, with no consensus to promote me. However, I appreciate the concerns raised during the course of the discussion (most notably, a lack of experience, particularly in admin-heavy areas such as XfDs and policy discussions) and will attempt to address these before possibly standing again in several months time. Angus Lepper(T, C, D) 15:57, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Welcome back Random!

A few things have changed here on wikipedia, just in case you didn't know. Giggy has been nominated for adminship (horray), and the Best userpage content narrowly survived from Mfd. They're having a championship match, but I don't get what it is... Anyways, glad to see you back!

--Hirohisat Talk 23:02, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

You're back

Oh yay, just our luck :( :P And no, you aren't a Greek Australian (I almost am), so keep out :P Giggy UCP 01:17, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:Hello

"Hi" to you too Random... And good luck for when you go on RfA!

TomasBat 01:46, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi, The Random Editor, and thanks for your participation in my RfA. I've withdrawn it, and will be writing up an "analysis" of it, which will soon be available at User:Giggy/RfA/Giggy when it's done. Please come around when you get the chance, and give me feedback on how I can improve. Looking forward to nomming you! Thanks again, Giggy UCP 04:15, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Just thought I'd say "hi".

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I was looking around in your contributions, and I saw how much vandalism you had reverted (link below barnstar, it messes up the coding). Excellent work Random! Oh, and by the way, "hi". :-) · AndonicO Talk 12:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Don't be, I'm back and I'm happy, so why should you be sad? P.S. Check your e-mail about 30 seconds after I post this. · AndonicO Talk 18:12, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
I saw it over on RFA. I like it a lot: if there was a barnstar for signatures, you'd probably have a few by now. :) · AndonicO Talk 18:17, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Replied to e-mail. · AndonicO Talk 18:20, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! :)

My dear Random Editor (gosh, I wish I knew a more caring way to address you in times like these!), I just can't fnd the wors to thank you properly for such beautiful gifts, and your kidness. Slowly, little by little, we're truly building a friendship, and I have now real way to express how special it is for me. That being said, with all of me, I couldn't possibly forget saving you a piece of cake! Mind if I stay and share it with you...? Love, Phaedriel - 00:00, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Retributive smile

Wow, thank you so much for the barnstar! :-) For some reason I did not notice I had new messages (the bar must be on wikibreak) so I was very surprised to see the barnstar quietly smiling at the bottom of my talk page while I was re-reading a comment there. Again, thank you so much. :-) Best regards, Húsönd 01:09, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the barnstar! RuneWiki777 12:26, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your support in my Request for Adminship. Unfortunately the nomination did not succeed, but please rest assured that I am still in full support of the Wikipedia project, and I'll try again in a few months! admin

Hey. I've seen you around quite a bit and was wondering if you'd be interested in adminship. I'd gladly nominate you at WP:RFA if you're wiling. Let me know of your decision. Wizardman 19:25, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Alright then, I'll just join the nom bandwagon. :) Wizardman 20:56, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in, but I think four is a good number for (co)nominators. ;) Tell me when you're nominated. · AndonicO Talk 00:01, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

WP:CVU status

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Scrolling reflists

Hi. You recently framed the reference section in the Intel Corporation article. Although I do like the way it 'cleans up' long reference sections, it has some issues (If you have the patience to go through my contributions, you'll see that I also framed some ref sections in the past. Most of them were later removed by other editors). See these discussions: Wikipedia_talk:Citing_sources#Scrolling_Reference_Lists:_Formal_Policy_Discussion and Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2007 June 11#Template:Scrollref

Hi Random,

I am very sorry to bother you, but can you co-adopt BalanceRestored (talk · contribs)? I will not be able to go on wikipedia so much the next 2 weeks or so, so I can't help him much during that period. Hope it didn't bother you, --Hirohisat Talk 06:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I appreciate your kindness. --Hirohisat Talk 21:06, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Your page has been conquered by the Earth Cabal

Hello The Random Editor I am here to inform you that your userpage or talk page has been conquered by the Earth Cabal. Please don’t panic; there is nothing you can do about it. You are hereby invited to join the Cabal, and help conquer other pages for our cause. See User:Hirohisat/Earth Cabal for more information. Thank you, have a nice, irregular weather day, and welcome to Earth. --Hirohisat Talk 03:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I've replied to your query at my talk page. BalanceRestored 07:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

If you would

I'd appreciate it if you check in with BalancedRestored and his editing at Vedas. He is currently very frustrated and could use some help understanding the situation and applicable rules. Thanks! Vassyana 11:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the offer

Hi Random, thanks for your offer of adaption. I feel i would like to find an adopter who shares more common interests with me. your offer is appreciated.

StatusBot

Wait at least 5 minutes - it only polls every 5 minutes to save on queries etc, as it can get quite slow, and the entire updating cycle can take over a minute depending on times since users last edits. If it's still not updating after 10 minutes, tell me, as it might have crashed. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:27, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

After further checking, it appears it has crashed. I'll restart it this evening, when I have SSH access again. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:28, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
I have posted a warning on the bots user page, incase others notice too. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:32, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh well, it appears to not be crashed, but to have lagged behind somewhat. I was judging on the contrib timestamps, but it appears sig timestamps and contrib timestamps are way out of sync. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:36, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me please

I read about that discussion you had on my user page. Thanks for being the only one to vote yes... i am new... and it did upset me. You guys should be a little nicer cuz that should be put under bullying in the encyclopidia. And now you are planning to rip apart my user page? Geez! I'm telling all my friends and teachers and school not to use wikipedia because it is harsh, cruel, crude, and overall not understanding. They will all listen! But thank you for listening to me. I am still very upset though. I don't even have a myspace. Those were all STORIES! I like to write STORIES! I had them there so all my friends in school could read my STORIES! Thank you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/Subpages_of_FonzieBaby BEATLES RULE!!! go fonz! 20:35, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

RE: Proposed move of article to 'southern hemisphere'

Hello, and thank you for commenting on this proposed move. I do realise that, due to technical constraints, the first character will be an initial capital letter regardless. In any event, would you be so kind as to actually indicate your support in the section above your comment? Thanks. Quizimodo 22:23, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi again. Would you be so kind as to reassert your support for this move in the appropriate section (above your prior comment); otherwise, it will appear as just another comment. Thanks. Quizimodo 00:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Userboxes

I was looking at your userboxes and noticed a small spacing error in the one about siblings. As I was fixing it, I also noticed that it used several unneeded Parser Functions. It appears that you substituted all of your userboxes. Overall, they look very nice, but the underlying code is a bit messy. I'm teaching myself quite a bit about userpages and userboxes. I've developed a fair amount of talent in this area. With your permission, I'd like to go though your userboxes and clean up all the excess code. Most of it can be replaced with simple text. I'm not trying to imply that you're a bad userpage-designer or anything. I just noticed something and I want to help. I hope that I have not offended you; I'm simply trying to help. Please let me know if there's anything I can do. - SigmaEpsilonΣΕ 02:25, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
