AWB Approvals
Hi. I see that you often approve and deny users for AWB on WP:AWB/CP. Nobody has done this and there are requests over 24 hours old. I've already put a notice on WP:AN, but nobody has done anything yet. I just thought if you had the time you might be able to approve/deny these requests. Sorry for sounding impatient, but I'd like to get approved as soon as possible. Thanks in advance. ╦ﺇ₥₥€Ԋ(talk/contribs) 23:47, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your vote on my RfA
AWB
Hi, I have seen that you declined my request for WP:AWB, probably because of my low editcount in en:WP. Please consider that I was an active contributor to de:WP for more than one year. You can see my wikimatrix here. I am the author of articles like this and this just to name a few. I have more than 3000 edits in de:WP and was never blocked or involved in edit-wars or other disruptive behaviour. You can also see an excerpt of the revert statistic on de:WP here, where I rank above probably 50 sysops. I am not active on de:WP any longer for my own reasons. I was once blocked at de:WP but this was my own decision. Please see here. The reason for blocking reads "requested by user". You can crosscheck this with User:DerHexer who is a sysop on en:WP and de:WP. I would like to ask you to review your decision. Thanks in advance. --Meisterkoch (talk) 22:14, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi. if you have a chance, could you please come to Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and help us reach some sort of dispute resolution? I noticed that you are the admin who originally edit-protected it. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 14:54, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
AFD
When your relisting AFD discussions, remember to comment it out on the original day, like
<!--{{some afd discussion}}-->
otherwise it shows up twice and can creates a non-existent backlog at WP:AFDO. Thanks. -Royalguard11(T·R!) 18:28, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
With 3 keeps/merge and 4 deletes I would like to ask you to undelete Periphery and relist it for more discussion. I don't want to undelete it myself as I've voted (and I do support deletions of the subarticles). Notably User:Huwmanbeing was in the middle of merging content into that article and rewriting it (see article's history). Thanks. PS. I've just noted that Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) is undergoing a major rewrite and dispute resolution, so the legal grounds for deleting the article as non-notable may be in doubt, too. -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 00:28, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. For now I am busy undeleting histories and merging quite a few articles into 'lists of...' and such. Bleh. I prefer to work on undisputably notable content (history), but it's a shame to waste efforts of editors in fiction area... although some things I am not going to defend :D -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 01:08, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Placebo, you appear to have started to relist the article at AFD, but did not complete it. Pagrashtak 01:21, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey TPE! I just want to say before I do anything else, thank you. I appreciate your willigness to hand over the reigns to me for the features and admins sections in the signpost, for the last two issues. I know, considering we haven't had much contact, that we don't really know each other, but it demonstrates trust, something I really admire and respect. I had a really good time with the signpost, and even got to do an interview for the WikiProject, I edit most with. Finally, if you ever need to take "time off" again, for whatever reason, I'd love to do it again. Thank you for this opportunity. Best, — Rudget Contributions 19:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Weekly episode numbers!?
Hi "The Placebo Effect",
I noticed your recent changes to the Wikipedia:WikipediaWeekly page & your moving the episodes to a new namespace.
FYI, I left a note with Daveydweeb with some questions, but I think he's on an extended hiatus.
I see you renumbered Eps:
- 24 to 25: Ward Cunningham Interview
- 25 to 26: Evan Prodromou interview
- 26 to 27: Day 3 Morning Update
If you see Audio list Episode: "Day 3 Morning Update", it mentions that this is Episode 26. Perhaps that's a mis-numbering!? Anyway that was why I numbered them the way I did.
Also, there seems to be an orphan Episode21 unrelated to the Wikimania Tomorrow! episode 21.
Love to hear your thoughts...
Regards, JohnI (talk) 08:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Sorry for my ignorance on this: Do you have a link to the iTunes descriptions? Do I have to have iTunes installed?! to see them?
- Also wondering if you looked at the extra Ep 21?

Features and admins
I misunderstood what you said about your availability today...sorry for stepping on your toes a bit.
As to the changes I made this week, I like splitting the content like I did this week, because it spaces out things -- I've been wondering if there was a way to ensure that you can actually read every line -- with so many wikilinks on consecutive lines, it can get tough to read.
For the de-featured, meanwhile, I personally think it's a good idea for the sake of not becoming merely a list of everything that happens. It could be expanded to other areas of the report, if you like, or kept there -- I think de-featured is a very important section to expand upon, because there's so much information there in every case that can be overlooked -- how long ago it was featured, the specific problems, whether anything was done about it, etc.
I think it'd be great to have a bot compile the information, so long as you try to "de-bot" it -- add things like what I'm trying out with the de-featured articles, find controversial cases and try to explain what happened, etc. Just make sure that it reads like a human wrote it, and contains information that's interesting to most Wikipedians, not just statistics. As far as I'm concerned, you've done a great job so far on the report, and I trust your judgment in that respect. Ral315 (talk) 05:24, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 22:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Sneezing fetishism deletion
I am wondering why you deleted the article on sneezing fetishism. The topic is somewhat sleazy, but it is a real phenomenon that people may be curious about, particularly after a friend confesses to them that he/she is afflicted with this strange attraction that they've probably never heard of before. list of podcasts
Thanks for the barnstar. I was rather alarmed by the long list of episodes at Wikipedia:WikipediaWeekly#List so I tried putting the list into a scrolling box. I wonder if it would be best to put the episodes in reverse chronological order. Also, since there are so few transcripts, I'm tempted to fill the blank spaces in the table with images from each episode that does not have a transcript. As test, I did so for the first few episodes. --JWSchmidt (talk) 00:22, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Human Popsicle3.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Human Popsicle3.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 19:52, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR
Hello fellow Wikipedia administrators open to recall category member! |
---|
I am leaving you this message because recent events have given me concern. When Aaron Brenneman and I, and others, first developed this category well over a year ago, we visualized it as a simple idea. A low hassle, low bureaucracy process. We also visualized it as a process that people would come to trust, in fact as a way of increasing trust in those admins who chose to subscribe to the notion of recall. The very informal approach to who is qualified to recall, what happens during it, and the process in general were all part of that approach. But recent events have suggested that this low structure approach may not be entirely effective. More than one of the recent recalls we have seen have been marred by controversy around what was going to happen, and when. Worse, they were marred by some folk having the perception, rightly or wrongly, that the admin being recalled was trying to change the rules, avoid the process, or in other ways somehow go back on their word. This is bad. It's bad for you the admin, bad for the trust in the process, and bad for the community as a whole. I think a way to address this issue is to increase the predictability of the process in advance. I have tried to do that for myself. In my User:Lar/Accountability page, I have given pretty concrete definitions of the criteria for recall, and of the choices I can make, and of the process for the petition, and of the process for other choices I might make (the modified RfC or the RfAr). I think it would be very helpful if other admins who have voluntarily made themselves subject to recall went to similar detail. It is not necessary to adopt the exact same conditions, steps, criteria, etc. It's just helpful to have SOME. Those are mine, fashion yours as you see fit, I would not be so presumptuous as to say mine are right for you. In fact I urge you not to just adopt mine, as I do change them from time to time without notice, but instead develop your own. You are very welcome to start with mine if you so wish, though. But do something. If you have not already, I urge you to make your process more concrete, now, while there is no pressure and you can think clearly about what you want. Do it now rather than later, during a recall when folk may not react well to perceived changes in process or commitment. Further, I suggest that after you document your process, that you give a reference to it for the benefit of other admins who may want to see what others have done. List it in this table as a resource for the benefit of all. If you use someone else's by reference rather than copy, I suggest you might want to do as Cacharoth did, and give a link to a specific version. Do you have to do these things? Not at all. These are suggestions from me, and me alone, and are entirely up to you to embrace or ignore. I just think that doing this now, thinking now, documenting now, will save you trouble later, if you should for whatever reason happen to be recalled. I apologise if this message seems impersonal, but with over 130 members in the category, leaving a personal message for each of you might not have been feasible, and I feel this is important enough to violate social norms a bit. I hope that's OK. Thanks for your time and consideration, and best wishes. Larry Pieniazek NOTE: You are receiving this message because you are listed in the Wikipedia administrators open to recall category. This is a voluntary category, and you should not be in it if you do not want to be. If you did not list yourself, you may want to review the change records to determine who added you, and ask them why they added you. |
...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "S"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "T"s through "Z"s (and beyond, apparently)! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. ++Lar: t/c 20:54, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection of Super Bowl XLII
There has been a request by another admin on Talk:Super Bowl XLII#semi-protection that the Super Bowl XLII article should not be semi-protected before or during the game (only after it ends). This essentially follows WP:PPOL that "Semi-protection should not be used as a pre-emptive measure against vandalism that has not yet occurred". Since it almost a few hours before kickoff, and you have not edited in over an hour (in fact, only have made a handful of edits over the past week), I have taken the liberty of unprotecting it. If you disagree, please make your comments on Talk:Super Bowl XLII#semi-protection. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:17, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Just wondering? Not that it really matters. Also, you seem to be an Avatar fan, probably one of the few users who automatically knows where my user name came from? Thanks. Cheers. Earthbendingmaster 03:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

- My sincere apologies, I did not object to anything, I was just curious. Thanks. Cheers. Earthbendingmaster 04:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Could you do me a favor? Earthbendingmaster 01:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I did need my rollback rights taken away to try something, but I don't need that any more. Thanks anyway. But I do need to ask you a question, how are titles protected? When an administrator comes to a non-existent page, is there a protect tab just like on normal pages? Earthbendingmaster 20:05, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you a lot! Was it always this way? Earthbendingmaster 20:10, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Is it true that cascading protection used to be enabled with semi-protection? I thought I saw somewhere that it was until a bug was filed. Earthbendingmaster 20:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Cheers. Earthbendingmaster 20:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Capitalization advice
I am currently editing the Aang article, and a user has suggested that when "Avatar" appears in the article, it should be in lowercase ("avatar"). I am not sure which would be the correct way to use it so I wanted to ask you for a second opinion. The original suggestion can be found on my talk page while the continuation of any discussion can be found on the article's talk page. I think they might need to be kept as capitalized but I am not sure. Please reply. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 19:41, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Deletion - Duo Guardabarranco
I added an article yesterday about Duo Guardabarranco, which I understand you made subject for a speedy deletion. I am a new user making mistakes. I tried to hangon a contradiction, but don't know if you saw it. If this duos history and significance does not justify a Wikipedia page, I suggest the bar is placed a bit too high. Any chance of undeleting?--Corveta (talk) 12:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Omglolwtfbbq speedy deletion
Please reconsider your speedy deletion of this article. This is not, IMHO, a valid A3 speedy. This was a soft redirect to another project, one of many, many soft redirects on this project. IMHO, soft redirects no more qualify for A3 speedy than regular redirects do. You have also short circuted an AFD discussion on the subject that might have led to a better understanding of soft redirects. Please see my arguments against the AFD deletion here. I feel very strongly that letting soft redirects be subject to A3 speedy deletion sets a bad precedent, and will take this to deletion review if that is needed. - TexasAndroid (talk) 18:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Rollback
Hi! I am here to request for rollback feature. I would like to do vandal fighting and contribute more on Wikipedia. Would you please grant me this feature?--Mark Chung (talk) 00:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Gosh!
I was about to ask you about how to fight vandals and there is a "vandal work" on your page? What is happening? I have deleted it, so see, I am vandal fighting!(How can I fight vandal without a tool) --Mark Chung (talk) 01:09, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Help me, Buddy!
It has been a long time since I edited SMK Semera. I will give some info but will you help me to rearrange it?--Mark Chung (talk) 01:17, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Aang Collaboration
I nominated Aang for Wikipedia:Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive. I urge you to vote in support of the nomination and to notify others so the article can remain listed. Thanks a lot. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 16:02, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Your monobook
I was taking a gander at your monobook and noticed that you have a lot of stuff. Is it possible to have every script available? If yes, where does it give that opportunity on WP:NAVPOP? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 22:15, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Tutorial: Getting an article to featured article status
Hello! I preferred my first draft of the above tutorial. If you have time, check the draft, offer any comments you would like, check the prose, and propose me any improvements you regard as useful. Thank you in advance!--Yannismarou (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
3RR and Edit Warring on Aang
I was wondering if you could help out at the Aang article. User:Walter Mellon Head is continuously adding info about Aang's eye color and changing around the infobox against consensus. This is most likely considered addition of un-sourced information. In addition, he has reverted the changes of other editors six times within the past couple of hours. I reported him at WP:AN/3RR but nobody is responding. Currently, I can only revert his edits one more time before violating WP:3RR myself. It would be really helpful if you could do something because since the article is about to be nominated another time for GA, it is not a good time for an edit dispute on the article. Oh yeah, he has also been warned three times about WP:3RR, he has been warned about misusing the minor edit checkbox, and I explained to him why his edits are being reverted, yet he continues his reverting. Here is a copy of his WP:AN/3RR report:
- Three-revert rule violation on
Aang (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Walter Mellon Head (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log): Time reported: 21:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Previous version reverted to: 2008-02-18 20:18
- 1st revert: 2008-02-18 20:19
- 2nd revert: 2008-02-18 20:38
- 3rd revert: 2008-02-18 20:58
- 4th revert: 2008-02-18 21:19
- 5th revert: 2008-02-19 01:11
- 6th revert: 2008-02-19 02:23
- Diff of 1st 3RR warning: 2008-02-18 21:28
- Diff of 2nd 3RR warning: 2008-02-19 01:21
- Diff of 3rd 3RR warning: 2008-02-19 02:36
The user is continuously adding speculative unsourced information to the article even after his edits have been reverted. In addition, he continued to edit even though there were hidden comments warning editors to discuss changes on the talk page due to the controversial status of his edits. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 21:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- In addition, he is tried to escape WP:3RR by waiting until the end of the day (February 18). But his edits are still within the same 24-hour period. He has been warned twice. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 01:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
I would really appreciate it if you helped out. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 02:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Just curious, would you mind telling me how many deleted contributions I have? Oh yea, I used to be Earthbendingmaster until a rename. Thanks. Cheers. Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 17:49, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Your tutorial
Your tutorial at User:The Placebo Effect/Signpost tutorial looks like it's progressing, but isn't done. If you could finish it before the scheduled date of March 24th, as listed at User:Enochlau/Signpost tutorial series, that would be good, because the dates listed there aren't really being followed, and there is - at the moment - only one finished, unpublished tutorial in the queue.
Thanks. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 16:19, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, saw the comment on the discussion page, am in the process of responding.
- Also, on the tutorial, please place "done" in the table when it's reasonably close to finished. I normally check that on Mondays to see if I can provide some editing help on anything likely to go into the Signpost in the next day or two. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 16:28, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
