A cookie for you!
Thanks for finding those additional sources for Bionicle: The Game! Toa Nidhiki05 01:07, 15 June 2021 (UTC) |
- @Toa Nidhiki05: No problem at all! I don't really know anything about the series, but I saw the article was pending GA review and wanted to help make sure things are ship shape before someone more experienced than me puts it under a microscope. I also want to perform a B-class review for WP Video Games' criteria, which I think this article will handily meet. Just so you know, it's a bit inactive, but WikiProject Lego actually has WP:BIONICLE a Bionicle task force. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 01:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, sometimes a fresh look is good! You found two reviews I wasn't able to find (the Mac review is big - the port has no other reviews and was oddly promoted by Steve Jobs as "great" at a Macworld event, which it clearly was not) so clearly you were able to turn over some stones I wasn't able to.
- And as for the task force - I'm actually surprised to see that! There's a few editors kind of patrolling the Bionicle pages and relative to most other toylines, I think Bionicle is in good shape (five good articles among the dozen of so listed in the topic category page) so kind of funny to see that. - Yeah, finding the Macworld one was a bit interesting. I found it on MobyGames (the site is especially good for finding reviews for retro games that came out before Metacritic and GameRankings, but it often still provides good ones for more modern titles). However, the provided link to the article was dead, and the Wayback Machine (and every other archival website) had no archives of it. So I looked at the April 2005 print edition of Macworld on the Internet Archive, and still no dice. Finally, I did what I probably should've done in the first place by searching for "Macworld Bionicle", and I was thankful to see the article was just moved to another URL and not deleted (along with those two other sources about the beta and the Family Fun Pack 3). I'm going to try finding the full review of the GBA version from Nintendo Power and adding it to 'Reception', since that's the only version now that's absent from that section. - That's some dedication lol. Apparently it coming to Mac was a big deal back in the day so the amount of coverage makes sense to a degree. The GBA review would be fantastic - as far as I can tell, it's the only review that game ever got from a major outlet. Toa Nidhiki05 01:57, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Toa Nidhiki05: As best I can tell, it is. Probably the only two major sources for reviews I know are still out there for any version of the game are Jeuxvideo.com (apparently quite a big deal in France), and the Swedish magazine Super Play. Kind of a shame that only Nintendo Power reviewed the GBA version, but on the other hand, it's probably the most reliable outlet that could've reviewed it, so it's not all bad. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 13:52, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's good it got one review. Frankly, though, having played it... I can see why there are few reviews lol. It aint good Toa Nidhiki05 02:45, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
