The Killers Discography

Can you point me to the policy/guideline/MOS that states that only studio albums should be listed in band discography sections? I have heard this a few times, but I thought that compilation albums could be listed as long as they were labelled as such. I tried doing some searching on it, but couldn't find anything specifically discussing that issue. Thanks! Angryapathy (talk) 18:53, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

I can understand why most discography sections within articles only contain studio albums, especially for bands with long histories and numerous releases. But a band like The Killers, who have thus far only released 3 studio albums (soon to be 4), I don't see the harm in including a compilation album that charted well and received good reviews in the discography section, especially considering it constitutes 1/5 of their albums released. Hi, i got a question: Whats wrong with you? i've brought enough sources to put progressive metal in the infobox and now you say that it needs to be discussed, maybe you haven't looked up but when i went to the talkpage i found that it was already discussed and the consensus was to keep it there, that was more than a year ago, even more, i found out that the user "Y2kcrazyjoker4" was aware of this, he is just pretending he doesn't, don't let him fool you.

My Sweet Lord

Hi TheOnlyOne12. Rather than get into some edit war over the issue in this article's infobox, I thought it would be better if I took it up with you here. My point about reverting your change was that yes, "George Harrison" appears in the heading, but I can't see that linking the first mention below that is overlinking. It's a visual thing: I think it's quite easy to miss/ignore the artist's name in the heading, so I feel the link is needed at first mention in the actual infobox text. But also, if you think that's over-linking, why have you stopped there? Shouldn't later headings within the infobox that contain the words "George Harrison" and "All Things Must Pass" have their links removed, to be consistent with your approach? (I hope not.) Also, I've got a few Harrison song and album articles up to GA now, and/or a couple were successfully nominated on my behalf, and the same approach (linked name for first appearance of Harrison's name in the infobox) appears in all of them, and in probably over 50 other Harrison articles I've worked on. Hi TheOnlyOne12. Thanks for your reply. I take your point about overlinking – one of the things I've tried to do since starting on Harrison articles early this year is remove a link from each and every mention of his name in infoboxes, i.e. when he's both writer and producer. You point to the "Imagine" example, but other Lennon songs I notice go in the other direction, by either having each mention of his name linked, or just the one (as I'm suggesting): Mother, Power, Woman Is the ..., Mind Games, etc. It seems that Dylan singles do the same: Rolling Stone, Tangled. I don't know, I guess it's all subjective – personally, my eye never settles on the artist's name at the top of an infobox, I'm always drawn to the contents below the heading, so I'd expect to see a link at first mention there. We'd best agree to disagree on this (!). I'll leave My Sweet Lord as it is if you're wedded to the idea, but I can't promise that in months to come – I often revisit articles to add new info/refs or undo vandalism – I won't end up reinstating the link, having forgotten our conversation.
