Bali sacrifice
I made the following post on the discussion page of another editor whose name is too difficult for me to remember. I am repeating it here for you as you seem to have some interest in the subject:
Here is a interesting perspective on Bali Sacrifice : Kali: the black goddess of Dakshineswar p.113. Probably not directly relevant to article, but useful somewhere. --TheMandarin (talk) 05:16, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- The book provides interesting perspectives on Bali Sacrifice. Google book is only limited preview, fortunately I have access to the complete book, --TheMandarin (talk) 08:27, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Here are some references about the same tradition present in section of Sikhs called Nihangs. It is a major ritual at Hazur Sahib in Maharashtra where Guru Gobind singh breathed his last:

- "The most special occasion of the Chhauni is the festival of Diwali which is celebrated for ten days. This is the only Sikh shrine at Amritsar where Maha Prasad (meat) is served on special occasions in Langar" Source: The Sikh review, Volume 35, Issue 409 - Volume 36, Issue 420, Fauja Singh, Sikh Cultural Centre., 1988
- "When performing Jhatka on a goat, first the goat is bathed, then Japji Sahib and Chandi Di Var are read. One Singh stands by the head of the goat and upon the final lines of Chandi Di Var being read, ‘Those who sing this divine ballad will be liberated from the realm of life and death’, at this moment the goat is decapitated with one blow and the soul of the goat is liberated. The goat itself lowers its head to receive salvation”. Source: (Giani Thakur Singh, Asa Di Var Viakhya Part 25)
--History Sleuth (talk) 19:04, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- History Sleuth let's stop putting the cart before the horse. Bali is a very specific form of sarifice, as is Halal to the Muslim and Kosher to Jews. If you can find any articles that refer to Bali being also a Sikh tradition, then I would be interested. Sacrifice is not necessarily interchangable with Bali, but Bali is a form of sacrifice. ramakrishna RfC
I'd prefer it if you rewrote the RfC a bit. RfC text is supposed to be neutral statements of the problem; you're argued your side of the debate instead. I suggest you split what's there - your arguments go down as your response to the RfC, and the RfC text itself just says what the RfC is about. I'll do it for you if you prefer; let me know. --Ludwigs2 20:41, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks for stepping in and doing the DYK review. Seemed like time was getting short! All the very best (and happy Buddha Purnima!) -- Health Researcher (talk) 13:33, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- You are welcome, hope the DYK appears in time. --TheMandarin (talk) 14:45, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think it probably will appear in time. They've already moved it to "Prep Area 2". If the prep areas funnel in order into the queue, then it should appear at 5:30 pm New Delhi time (1pm London time) on Buddha Purnima (May 17), and stay up for 6 hours. I would have suggested slightly earlier in the day, but come to think of it, that might (?) be an ideal time for people to look at it when they are done with work. Thanks again -- Health Researcher (talk) 17:59, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- Further update FYI - it's now in the queue, scheduled for 11:30am New Delhi time (7am London time), certainly also an OK time. Thanks again for stepping in. Health Researcher (talk) 23:09, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

- Got it, thanks for correction. --TheMandarin (talk) 10:55, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
I saw you restoring a sentence in the WP:LEAD, but that sentence probably requires a whole section to support and it needs that kind of information anyway. The reason being, recently I was reading a jjournal article about Kuppagal archeological dig in Karnataka and local people identified an atleast 20,000 year old petroglyph as a Vithoba. So this is indeed a very subaltern, indigenouse thought process that has come to the surface and co-opted by the elites and needs that kind of information in the article. Kanatonian (talk) 15:00, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
- I restored the sentence, since I perceived it as vandalism. ( The material removed was supported by references, and I believe the article being a FA, has been vetted by several editors). If you have any issues with it, I would suggest you to discuss it on the talk page, and other knowledgeable editors will respond. Br, --TheMandarin (talk) 09:00, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)
Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:
- Link to Survey (should take between 5-10 minutes): http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N8FQ6MM
It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.
At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).
Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.
If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Article on movie Bhagvan Sri Ramakrishna
Hello, User:Presearch has posted an interesting offer regarding Article on movie Bhagvan Sri Ramakrishna India notice board. Hi TheMandarin, I don't know if you are interested, but you might want to look at the Swami Kriyananda page. I am concerned with the increasingly disrespectful tone and inconsistent application of so-called WP policies there. For one, the removal of 'Swami' there from his name is a serious issue. Ajit Singh of Khetri
Recently I have expanded your article Ajit Singh of Khetri and nominated for Template:Did you know nominations/Ajit Singh of Khetri. Feel free to suggest other hook at DYK! --Tito Dutta (contact)
- There are few confusions—
- According to history of Khetri, after the death of Fateh Singh Bahadur in 1870 Ajit Singh became the eighth king of Khetri or Shekhaway dynasty of Rajasthan. But, he was born in 1861. So, at that time he was only 9 years old. Am I missing something?
- The same document says Rani Champawatiji Sahiba, queen of Raja Ajit Singh died on 16 May 1904 (1908) What is this 1904 (1908)? Does it mean she died in 1904 and cremated in 1908 (but 4 years too long for cremation)! --Tito Dutta (contact) 23:58, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for the 5x expansion and DYK submission. I will check the date inconsistencies, I may have the book somewhere which will help. Thanks. --TheMandarin (talk) 04:35, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. It was pointed out to me that the article Sister Gargi copied content from the Hindu obituary. Investigating the history reveals that this material was added by you, here. For comparison, here is the content in the source and the content you placed in the article side-by-side, with your text bolded where it is copied verbatim:

This was some time ago, but I need to be sure you are aware of these policies and to ask you both to correct this copyright problem (the section in the article has been tagged) and to think about whether you might have copy-pasted other content that needs to be addressed.
