I was wondering can I get the oppurtunity to modify and update the Cityscape and Demographics sections of the Philadelphia article? I asking this because it's currently semi-protected.{{TheManOfTruth (talk) 03:16, 11 May 2012 (UTC)}}
- To make a request to have an edit made to a semi-protected article, you go to the Talk page, start a new discussion there, and suggest a change. If it's a really obvious change, (fixing a typographic error), you can go ahead and do this immediately, if it's a change that has any real chance of being controversial, you'll want to get some agreement from other editors there for your proposed change. Once you've got that agreement, or if it's a obvious fix or improvement that is so obvious it doesn't require that, add the following text to the section where you discuss the matter.
- Be sure, before you've done this, that you've explained precisely, in "change the text that says this, to this", in a really clear way in that section. And soon enough someone will come along to make that change for you.
- If you stick around for a short time at Wikipedia and work on a few articles, you'll soon be free of having to go through this process, and be able to edit semi-protected articles directly. I'm sorry if it's a bit frustrating, protecting or semi-protecting articles is a step we take, usually, only when we can't cope with the frequency of vandliasm on a particular article. Most articles aren't protected in any way, it's usually easier than this. :) Have a great week! And feel free to drop a note on my talk page if I can be of any help! --joe deckertalk to me 03:30, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
